Come See Me (Pretty Things Song)
"Come See Me" (also known as "I'm Your Man") is a 1966 song by Pretty Things on Fontana Records. It was written by J. J. Jackson (singer), J.J. Jackson, Pierre Tubbs and Sidney Barnes (musician), Sidney Barnes. The song featured prominent fuzz guitar, charting at number 43 in the UK and number 36 in the Netherlands. The B-side was a concert favorite titled "£.s.d", featuring the chorus lyrics "yes I need L.S.D." The title was a play on abbreviations for pounds, shillings and pence, intended to disguise its true subject matter; Phil May (singer), Phil May would admit later that the song was about LSD. The BBC played it for a little while until they realized what it was really about, whereupon they placed a ban on it. The song was reissued titled as "LSD" on the CD reissue of the album Get the Picture? (Pretty Things album), ''Get the Picture?''. Pretty Things
Pretty Things were an English Rock music, rock band formed in September 1963 in Sidcup, Kent, taking their name from Bo Diddley's 1955 song "Pretty Thing", and active in their first incarnation until 1971. They released five studio albums, including the debut ''The Pretty Things (album), The Pretty Things'' (UK Albums Chart #6) and ''S. F. Sorrow'' (the first rock opera), four Extended Plays, EPs and 15 UK singles, including the Top 20 UK Singles Chart "Don't Bring Me Down (Pretty Things song), Don't Bring Me Down" and "Honey I Need". Phil May (singer)
Philip Dennis Arthur May (born Wadey, later Kattner; 9 November 1944 – 15 May 2020) was an English vocalist. He gained fame in the 1960s as the lead singer of Pretty Things, of which he was a founding member. May remained a member throughout the band's changing line-up over the years, and was one of the band's main lyricists. He was the primary lyricist for the album '' S.F. Sorrow''. Biography Early life Born Philip Wadey in Dartford, Kent, he was raised by his aunt and uncle, whose surname was May. In childhood, he was sent back to live with his mother and stepfather, whose surname was Kattner, but later decided to change his name to May. The Pretty Things He formed the Pretty Things at Sidcup Art College in 1963 with guitarist Dick Taylor, who had recently left the fledgling Rolling Stones. "Heart Full of Soul" is a song recorded by the English rock group the Yardbirds in 1965. Written by Graham Gouldman, it was the Yardbirds' first single after Jeff Beck replaced Eric Clapton as lead guitarist. Released only three months after " For Your Love", "Heart Full of Soul" reached the Top 10 on the singles charts in the UK, US, and several other countries. The Yardbirds first recorded the song with an Indian sitar player performing the distinctive instrumental figures. However, the group were dissatisfied with the results, so Beck developed the part on electric guitar to emulate the sitar. A contemporary review described it as an "oriental touch", and music writers have identified Beck's contribution as introducing Indian-influenced guitar stylings to rock music, and as one of the earliest examples of what became known as raga rock. ''Get the Picture?'' is the second album by the English rock band Pretty Things, released in 1965. Recording ''Get the Picture?'' was recorded quickly as a follow-up to Pretty Things' self-titled debut album. Jimmy Page cowrote the album's opening song "You Don’t Believe Me". Release A CD reissue, which was remastered from the original session tapes, expanded the album to 18 tracks, with the addition of songs recorded in the same sessions for singles or extended plays. In 2023, all 13 of the band's studio albums were included in the box set ''The Complete Studio Albums 1965-2020''. The Yardbirds are an English rock music, rock band formed in London in 1963.
