The Combat Service Support Battalion (Estonian: ''Lahinguteeninduspataljon'') of the 2nd Infantry Brigade is a battalion size regular military unit of the Estonian Land Forces with combat service support role. The CCS Battalion is located in South Eastern Estonia and provides rear support including medical service for the units of the Brigade and Võru Battle School. History The CSS Battalion was created along with the formation of 2nd Infantry Brigade and reorganization of Southern Defence District in 2014. That was a part of the Military reform of the Estonian Defence Forces in order to create two maneuverable brigade size units instead of four static defence districts. The Logistics Battalion () is the main central unit of the Support Command of the Estonian Defence Forces which provides various logistical support. This battalion has a logistical role in the Estonian Defence Forces along with Combat Service Support Battalions of the Infantry Brigades of Estonian Land Forces. History The modern Logistics Battalion of Estonia considers itself to be a continuation of the Auto-Tank Regiment of the interwar era. The Kuperjanov Infantry Battalion () is a battalion of the Estonian Land Forces. It is a part of the 2nd Infantry Brigade (Estonia), 2nd Infantry Brigade. Battalion headquarters is at Taara Army Base, Võru. History Estonian War of Independence Julius Kuperjanov was a school teacher who was commissioned into the Imperial Russian Army during World War I and served as a commander of partisan and reconnaissance units. In 1918, he joined the Estonian Army at the beginning of the Estonian War of Independence. On 23 December 1918, Kuperjanov received permission from Colonel Ernst Limberg, commander of the 2nd Division (Estonia), 2nd Division, to form a special purpose partisan unit. Kuperjanov's unit initially consisted of 37 volunteers and was based at Puurmani manor. New volunteers continued to arrive and the unit soon grew to 600 troops, becoming Tartumaa Partisan Battalion. Võru
Võru (; ; ) is a town and a municipality in south-eastern Estonia. It is the capital of Võru County and the centre of Võru Parish. History Võru was founded on 21 August 1784, at the request of the Empress Catherine II of Russia, by the order of Riga Governor general count George Browne, on the site of the former Võru estate as the center of the new county.
