Columbus Crew 2 is a professional soccer team based in Columbus, Ohio that competes in the MLS Next Pro league, the third division of American soccer. The team is owned by, and operates as the reserve team of the Major League Soccer club Columbus Crew. The team plays home matches at Historic Crew Stadium. The team was announced as a member of MLS Next Pro on December 6, 2021. History On December 6, 2021, the Columbus Crew announced the formation of a reserve team in MLS Next Pro that would begin play in the 2022 season and that they would play at Historic Crew Stadium (the parent club's former home venue) in Columbus, Ohio. At the same time, the club announced its first manager, Corey Wrey, who is the Crew's current Assistant General Manager, a position he will continue to hold. Historic Crew Stadium, previously known as Columbus Crew Stadium and Mapfre Stadium, is a soccer-specific stadium in Columbus, Ohio, United States. It primarily served as the home stadium of the Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer from 1999 until 2021, when the team moved to Lower.com Field. Historic Crew Stadium is the current home of the Crew's training facility, the OhioHealth Performance Center and MLS Next Pro team Columbus Crew 2. Historic Crew Stadium is also the site of a variety of additional events in amateur and professional soccer, American football, lacrosse, and rugby, and is a regular site for outdoor concerts due to the permanent stage in the north end zone. Amar Sejdić
Amar Sejdić (born November 29, 1996) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a central midfielder for Major League Soccer club Columbus Crew. He played four years of college soccer for the Maryland Terrapins. Early life Sejdić was born in Berlin, Germany to Bosnian parents. His father hails from Jakeš near Modriča and his mother hails from Derventa. They fled Bosnia due to the Bosnian War and took refuge in Germany. At age four, Sejdić moved to the United States. Youth career Sejdić played with affiliate clubs United 1996 and the Derby City Rovers in Louisville, Kentucky, before traveling abroad to play for the under-19 team of Vitesse in the Netherlands. The Tampa Bay Rowdies are an American professional soccer team based in St. Petersburg, Florida. The club was founded in 2008 and first took the pitch in 2010. Since 2017, the Rowdies have been members of the USL Championship in the second tier of the American soccer pyramid. Cristian Ortiz (born April 23, 2007) is a professional footballer who currently plays for Columbus Crew 2 in MLS Next Pro, on loan from the Tampa Bay Rowdies of the USL Championship. Born in the United States, he is a youth international for the Dominican Republic. Club career Ortiz moved from New York to Port Richey, Florida at a young age. In March 2024, he signed a USL Academy Contract with the Tampa Bay Rowdies after playing for local youth clubs that were affiliated with the professional team. He then made his league debut on March 24, and would go on to became the first player to sign a professional contract from the Rowdies' academy system two months later. Cesar Ruvalcaba Perez (born July 13, 2001) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a defender for Major League Soccer club Columbus Crew. Youth and college career Ruvalcaba played soccer for Downey High School, while also playing club soccer for Downey FC United and Strikers FC.
