Columbia Secondary School
The Columbia Secondary School for Math, Science, & Engineering (also known as CSS) is a selective public, sixth- through twelfth-grade school that opened in 2007. A partnership between the New York City Department of Education, the community, and Columbia University, CSS serves students who have an interest in a program focusing on STEM fields. Columbia Secondary School has been cited as one of the most desirable schools in New York City. Morningside Park is a public park in Upper Manhattan, New York City. The park is bounded by 110th Street to the south, 123rd Street to the north, Morningside Avenue to the east, and Morningside Drive to the west. A cliff made of Manhattan schist runs through the park and separates Morningside Heights, above the cliff to the west, from Harlem. The Public Schools Athletic League, known by the abbreviation PSAL, is an organization that promotes student athletics in the public schools of New York City. It was founded in 1903 to provide and maintain a sports program for students enrolled in New York City public schools. It is the oldest and largest sports league in the United States. Future City Competition is an international competition (formerly a national competition) in the United States that focuses on improving students' math, engineering, and science skills.
