Colton Beck
Colton Beck (born June 10, 1990) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is currently playing with Stavanger Oilers of the Eliteserien. Playing career Prior to playing for the Alaska Nanooks, Beck played for the Langley Chiefs of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). After completion of his college career, he signed with the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL in 2014. In January 2016, Beck signed with the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL). During the 2018–19 season, on November 1, 2018, Beck signed a two-year, two-way contract with Iowa's parent affiliate, the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League (NHL). As a free agent after five seasons with the Iowa Wild, Beck was left unsigned with the delayed 2020–21 North American season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Barry Beck
Barry David Beck (born June 3, 1957) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player and currently the head coach of the Hong Kong national team. Beck was selected second overall in both the 1977 NHL amateur draft and the 1977 WHA Amateur Draft from the New Westminster Bruins. Beck helped the Bruins win the 1977 Memorial Cup, and was awarded the Stafford Smythe Memorial Trophy as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. He opted to move to the NHL over the WHA, and began his career with the Colorado Rockies. He also played for the New York Rangers and Los Angeles Kings over the course of his career, and retired in 1990. Junior career Beck played one game with the Kamloops Chiefs in 1973-74 before being traded to the New Westminster Bruins of the Western Hockey League (WHL), in June 1974 for Barry Melrose and Gary Plamondon and Dan Clark (ice hockey). 1974 WHA Amateur Draft
The 1974 WHA Amateur Draft was the second amateur draft held by the World Hockey Association. The first two rounds of the draft were conducted in secret in February and only graduating junior players (born in 1954) were eligible for selection. The remaining rounds were conducted on May 31. However, the WHA had reached an agreement with the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association between the two draft sessions, which permitted the WHA teams to draft one underage junior player (born in 1955 or 1956) in either the first or second round. Houston Aeros (WHA)
The Houston Aeros were a professional ice hockey team in the World Hockey Association (WHA) from 1972 to 1978. Franchise history The Aeros were originally slated to play in Dayton, Ohio, as a charter member of the WHA. However, Dayton residents were indifferent at best to a WHA team, and while there were questions regarding whether a U.S. market with less than a million people and a stagnating economy would support a major league hockey franchise in the long term, the more critical short-term problem was that Dayton did not have a suitable arena. The largest arena in the city, the University of Dayton Arena, did not have an ice plant and the university balked at the cost of installing one. Storhamar Hockey
Storhamar Hockey, often referred to by its initials SIL, is a Norwegian ice hockey team based in Hamar, Norway. The club currently plays in the Fjordkraft-ligaen, the highest level of Norwegian hockey. The club has won seven regular season titles and seven national championships since its founding on 18 March 1957. Storhamar play their home games in the CC Amfi.
