Fun Fun are an Italian Italo disco band formed in 1983. Their hits included " Colour My Love" and "Baila Bolero". History Producers Dario Raimondi and Alvaro Ugolini teamed up with studio vocalists Antonella Pepe, Angela Parisi and Ivana Spagna to create Fun Fun, a band with a bouncy, high-energy, dancefloor-friendly sound. Their first release, 1983's "Happy Station", was successful in Italy and other parts of Europe thanks to several extended mixes, including the most well-known "Scratch" version. "Happy Station" reached the number one spot in the South African charts. It was also popular in the Chicago House Dance scene and was played by DJs on WBMX. Upon receiving invitations for live performances, Raimondi and Ugolini decided to use models for Fun Fun's public image rather than the vocalists themselves, a common tactic in the European dance music scene already deployed by producers like Frank Farian. Eurodisco (also spelled as Euro disco) is a genre of electronic dance music that evolved from disco in the middle 1970s, incorporating elements of pop music, pop and rock music, rock into a disco-like continuous dance atmosphere. Many Eurodisco compositions feature lyrics sung in English, although the singers often share a different First language, mother tongue. Italo Disco
Italo disco (variously capitalized, and sometimes hyphenated as Italo-disco) is a music genre which originated in Italy in the late 1970s and was mainly produced in the 1980s. Italo disco evolved from the then-current underground dance, pop, and electronic music, both domestic and foreign (hi-NRG, Euro disco) and developed into a diverse genre. The genre employs electronic drums, drum machines, synthesizers, and occasionally vocoders. It is usually sung in English, and to a lesser extent in Italian and Spanish. Alfredo "Larry" Pignagnoli (born 31 July 1951) is an Italian record producer, composer and musician. He is behind several international dance hits and he runs the production unit "Off Limits" in Italy. Career Early career Starting from the 1960s, Pignagnoli took part to different bands, both as singer and musician, performing live in the Italian clubs and festivals. He was band member of Le Sfingi (beat music genre), I Marines and Gli Scorpioni. Then he met Ivana Spagna and together they founded the Van Larry band. One year after, Giorgio "Theo" Spagna (brother of Ivana) joined the band and they became the Opera Madre group. Ivana Spagna in her book "Quasi Una Confessione" wrote a section about that period. Ivana Spagna (; born 16 December 1954), also known simply as Spagna, is an Italian singer and songwriter. She is best known for her worldwide hit song " Call Me", released in 1987. Career Spagna started her singing career in the early 1970s when she released the first Italian version of " Mamy Blue" in 1971 under her name Ivana Spagna, then the following year, she released the single "Ari Ari". In the early 1980s, she provided vocals (with Angela Parisi) and wrote songs for the Italo disco duo Fun Fun; as well as writing songs and singing for many other dance music projects like Baby's Gang until 1986, when she embarked on a solo career. During this time, she also released two singles (in 1983 and 1985) under the alias Yvonne Kay, the first a cover of the Kiki Dee Band's " I've Got the Music in Me". The Kent Music Report was a weekly record chart of Australian music singles and albums which was compiled by music historian David Kent from May 1974 through to January 1999. The chart was re-branded the Australian Music Report (AMR) in July 1987. From June 1988, the Australian Recording Industry Association, which had been using the top 50 portion of the report under licence since mid-1983, chose to produce their own listing as the ARIA Charts. Before the Kent Report, ''Go-Set'' magazine published weekly Top 40 Singles from 1966, and albums chart from 1970 until the magazine's demise in August 1974. St Ives is a suburb on the Upper North Shore of Sydney in the state of New South Wales, Australia 18 kilometres north of the Sydney Central Business District in the local government area of Ku-ring-gai Council. History SABC's decision in December 1945 to develop a commercial service was constrained by post-war financial issues. The Dutch Top 40 () is a weekly music chart compiled by ''Stichting Nederlandse Top 40''. It started as a radio program titled "Veronica Top 40", on the offshore radio, offshore station Radio Veronica in 1965.
