Colorado State Board Of Education
The Colorado State Board of Education is a government body in the U.S. state of Colorado tasked with general supervision of public schools. The Constitution of Colorado was amended in 1948 to authorize an elected State Board of Education and the first elections took place in November 1950. The board is composed of members elected from districts corresponding to Colorado's congressional districts. During periods when Colorado is allocated an even number of congressional seats, an additional member is elected by statewide vote, thereby leading to an odd number of members and reducing the potential for tied votes. Following the 2020 census, there are eight districts and therefore nine members. Members Elected in partisan elections, board members serve staggered six-year terms. Colorado's 5th Congressional District
Colorado's 5th congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Colorado. The district lies in the center of the state and comprises Colorado Springs and its suburbs including Cimarron Hills and Fort Carson. The district is currently represented by Republican Jeff Crank. Historically one of the most Republican districts in Colorado, redistricting and growing Democratic strength in Colorado Springs and suburbs such as Cimarron Hills, Fountain, and Security-Widefield have shifted the district strongly to the left. However it is still a moderately Republican-leaning district with a Cook Partisan Voting Index rating of R+5. Johnstown is a home rule municipality in Weld and Larimer counties in the U.S. state of Colorado. The population was 17,303 at the 2020 United States census. History The Town of Johnstown began with the vision of Harvey J. Parish before its platting in 1902. When Parish realized that the Great Western Railway was building close to his homestead, he purchased land for $11/acre and platted the land that would later be known as Johnstown. The original plat of Johnstown contained no more than 10 acres. Lots were 25'x140' with 20' alleys. Johnstown's main street, now known as Parish Avenue, was originally named Greeley Avenue Public Road. Incorporated in 1907, Johnstown was named for Parish's son, John. Colorado's 8th congressional district is a new district in the United States House of Representatives that was apportioned after the 2020 United States census. The first congressional seat to be added to Colorado's congressional districts, Colorado's congressional delegation since 2001, the 8th district was drawn before the 2022 United States House of Representatives elections, 2022 elections. The district was drawn by the Colorado Independent Redistricting Commission and approved in an 11–1 vote on September 28, 2021, before being approved unanimously by the Colorado Supreme Court on November 1, 2021.
