Colorado Field was an outdoor college football stadium in the Western United States, western United States, on the campus of Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. Opened in 1912 Colorado Agricultural Aggies football team, 1912, it was the home of the Colorado State Rams football, CSU Rams of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) through 1967 Colorado State Rams football team, 1967. Constructed entirely by the students and faculty in 1912, Colorado Field was the first football field in the state of Colorado to have grass sod on the playing surface. Colorado State University (Colorado State or CSU) is a Public university, public Land-grant university, land-grant research university in Fort Collins, Colorado, United States. Jack Christiansen
Jack LeRoy Christiansen (December 20, 1928 – June 29, 1986) was an American professional football player who became a college and pro coach. He played professionally in the National Football League (NFL) for the Detroit Lions as a safety and return specialist from 1951 to 1958. He helped lead the Lions to three NFL championships in 1952, 1953, and 1957 and was a first-team All-NFL player in six of his eight years in the league. He led the NFL in interceptions in 1953 and 1957 and in punt returns for touchdown in 1951, 1952, 1954, and 1956. Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium was an outdoor college football stadium in the western United States, located in Fort Collins, Colorado. It was the home field of the Colorado State Rams of the Mountain West Conference from 1968 through 2016; the team moved in 2017 to the new on-campus Colorado State Stadium (now Canvas Stadium). The 1948 Colorado A&M Aggies football team represented Colorado State College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts in the Skyline Six Conference during the 1948 college football season. In their second season under head coach Bob Davis, the Aggies compiled an 8–3 record (4–1 against MSC opponents), lost to Occidental in the 1949 Raisin Bowl, and outscored all opponents by a total of 244 to 138. Eight Colorado Agricultural players received all-conference honors in 1948: fullback Don Mullison, fullback Thurman "Fum" McGraw, end George Jones, halfback Eddie Hana, guard Dale Dodrill, halfback Ollie Woods, quarterback Bob Hainlen, and tackle Don Hoch.
