Colombia–Russia Relations
Colombia–Russia relations are the bilateral relations between the Republic of Colombia and the Russian Federation. Colombia first established diplomatic relations on 25 June 1935 when Russia was then a part of the Soviet Union. Colombia then severed relations with the Soviet Union on 3 May 1948 as a result of the Bogotazo, but was restored back to normal on 19 January 1968. Colombia has an embassy in Moscow and Russia has an embassy in Bogotá. Recent years On 3 October 2008, Colombia—considered one of the closest U.S. allies in Latin America—sent its defense minister to Russia for the first time to discuss signing a new military cooperation accord. Rafael Francisco Amador Campos
Rafael Francisco Amador Campos (born 14 January 1948) is a Colombian lawyer and politician, who is currently serving as the Ambassador of Colombia to Russia. As a Liberal party politician, he served in Congress as Representative for Cundinamarca on two separate periods of two terms each, first from 1982 to 1990, and then from 1998 to 2006. Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías (; ; 28 July 1954 – 5 March 2013) was a Venezuelan politician, Bolivarian Revolution, revolutionary, and Officer (armed forces), military officer who served as the 52nd president of Venezuela from 1999 until Death of Hugo Chávez, his death in 2013, except for 2002 Venezuelan coup d'état attempt, a brief period of forty-seven hours in 2002. Foreign Relations Of Colombia
Colombia seeks diplomatic and commercial relations with all countries, regardless of their ideologies or political or economic systems. For this reason, the Colombian economy is quite open, relying on international trade and following guidelines given by international law. Since 2008, Colombia's Ministry of Trade and Commerce has either reached or strengthened Bilateral Trade Agreements with South Korea, Japan and China building stronger commerce interchange and development in the Pacific Rim. The Tupolev Tu-160 (; NATO reporting name: Blackjack) is a supersonic, variable-sweep wing nuclear-capable heavy strategic bomber and airborne missile platform designed by the Tupolev Design Bureau in the Soviet Union in the 1970s. The aircraft is large, rather longer than a Boeing B-52 Stratofortress at 54 m, with wingspan 56 m when spread, 36 m when swept back.
