Colm Foley
Colm Foley (born 30 May 1979) is an Irish football player who was forced to retire due to injury in January 2008 while playing for St Patrick's Athletic in the League of Ireland. Career Foley was a central defender and played schoolboy football for Belvedere and Manortown United. In 1998, he signed for Martin Lawlor at Drogheda United but spent the start of the season on the bench. When Eddie May took over Foley made his League of Ireland debut at University College Dublin A.F.C. on 23 January 2000. In the summer of 2000 Pat Dolan signed Foley for St Patrick's Athletic. He initially played as a deep holding midfielder but soon settled as a centre half alongside fellow new signing Darragh Maguire. In 2001/2002 season Foley played a huge part in the St. Pats side that finished top of the table, only for the FAI to deduct points for player registration irregularities. Dublin
Dublin (; , or ) is the capital and largest city of Ireland. Darragh Maguire
Darragh Maguire (born 6 February 1976 in Dublin) is a former Irish footballer. St Patrick's Athletic Maguire was a central defender and he joined St. Pats from Newry Town F.C. He was voted St Pats' Player of the Year in 2005 season and in 2006 was awarded captaincy of the team. Darragh scored his first league goal against Rovers at the end of the 2001/02 season. He scored his last league goal for Pats in a 1-0 win in Cork on 18 October 2005. Shamrock Rovers Darragh signed for the Hoops in November 2007. He made his competitive Rovers debut on the opening day of the 2008 League of Ireland season on 8 March 2008 and scored his first goal on 3 May. The League of Ireland Cup ( ga, Corn Sraithe na hÉireann), also referred to in Ireland as the 'League Cup', is an annual knockout competition in men's football in the Republic of Ireland. It is contested by League of Ireland clubs and invited clubs from the lower levels of the Republic of Ireland football league system. It has been sponsored by Electronic Arts and branded the EA Sports Cup since 2009. The competition began in 1973–74, replacing the League of Ireland Shield and the Dublin City Cup. It has had several formats since its inception and has been a knock-out competition since 2005. As there is no European qualification for winners of the League of Ireland Cup, it has a lower status than the FAI Cup and is therefore seen as the third most important trophy in the Irish playing season. ''Monday Night Soccer'' is a former football television programme shown on RTÉ Two each Monday evening during the football season. Presented by Peter Collins, he was usually joined by two guests, like manager Damien Richardson and former Millwall striker Richard Sadlier. Broadcast weekly on Monday evenings live from RTÉ studio 5, every League of Ireland Premier Division game was shown. In July and August editions of the show, it showed UEFA Champions League and Europa League matches, involving participating League of Ireland clubs. TV3 owned the rights to a long-running weekly League of Ireland highlights programme until 2007. In 2008, a deal was struck between RTÉ and the Football Association of Ireland (FAI), due to end in 2013. Anterior Cruciate Ligament
The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is one of a pair of cruciate ligaments (the other being the posterior cruciate ligament) in the human knee. The two ligaments are also called "cruciform" ligaments, as they are arranged in a crossed formation. In the quadruped stifle joint (analogous to the knee), based on its anatomical position, it is also referred to as the cranial cruciate ligament. The term cruciate translates to cross. This name is fitting because the ACL crosses the posterior cruciate ligament to form an “X”. It is composed of strong, fibrous material and assists in controlling excessive motion. This is done by limiting mobility of the joint. Paul Osam
Paul Osam (born 20 December 1967) is an Irish former professional association footballer. He has also done media work with TV3. His father was from Ghana. Career Osam was born in Dublin, Ireland. He started his League of Ireland career in 1988 when he was signed by Brian Kerr for St Patrick's Athletic from junior side Mount Merrion. He struggled to make an impact during his first season but made his league debut on 3 September 1989 in Limerick after Robbie Gaffney broke his leg. In 1989–90 he was dubbed the "Black Pearl of Inchicore Mark III" (Former St. Pats players and Black Irish pioneers Paul McGrath and Curtis Fleming were I and II respectively).
