Collie Knox
Capt. Columb "Collie" Thomas Knox (13 March 1897 – 3 May 1977) was a British writer and journalist active during World War II and the 1950s. After a varied military career, he joined the ''Daily Express'' before switching to the ''Daily Mail'', which promoted him as a star journalist. Early life and education Knox was born in London, the second son of Irish politician Edmund Vesey Knox M.P. and Annie Elizabeth Lloyd from Llanmaes, Glamorgan. He was of Ulster Scots descent, the great-great grandson of Thomas Knox, 1st Viscount Northland. His uncles were Sir Alfred Knox and Sir Harry Knox. He was educated at Rugby School and the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. He served in the Royal Flying Corps during the First World War. His elder brother Lt. O'Neil Gordon "Collie" Smith (5 May 1933 – 9 September 1959) was a West Indian international cricketer. A hard-hitting batsman and off-spin bowler, Smith was rated highly in West Indies. He idolised Jim Laker, for which reason he was nicknamed "Jim" for a time. Test career In his third first-class match, he hit 169 for Jamaica against the touring Australians in 1954–55, and was immediately included in the side for the First Test. He started his Test career scoring 104 on debut against Australia. But after a " pair" in the next match, he was dropped. He returned for the Fourth and Fifth Tests, and finished the series with 206 runs at 25.75 and 5 wickets at 68.00. He toured New Zealand in 1955–56, scoring 64 in the First Test and putting on 162 for the fourth wicket with Everton Weekes in 100 minutes. Colin Moran (Gaelic Footballer)
Colin "Collie" Moran (born 6 June 1980) is a former Gaelic footballer who played for the Dublin county team. He was captain of the Leinster Senior Football Championship-winning Dublin teams in 2006 and 2007. Playing career Moran made his senior inter-county debut in October 1998. He plays his club football for Ballyboden St Enda's. Moran broke his arm in a 2004 challenge match against Limerick in between two Championship games. Moran was on the winning side for Leinster against Ulster in the 2005 Railway Cup and repeated the feat, as captain, against Connacht in 2006 in Canton, Boston. David Collie Martin (19 March 1890 – 26 March 1917) was a Scottish footballer who played as a forward. He started his career as a centre forward at Brechin City before moving on to Dundee in 1911. He only played a few games for Dundee before transferring to Dundee Hibernian (Dundee United's name until 1923).
