Collegium Musicum Lviv
Collegium Musicum Lviv is an artistic community and music agency in Lviv, Ukraine that specializes in classical music. The activities of the music agency are aimed at promoting music and poetry, involving the public in co-creation, and bridging the gap between the performer and the listener. Origin of the name The name "Collegium Musicum" was given to musical societies in German cities in the 17th to the 18th centuries, which arose at schools or universities. Such groups at one time included J. S. Bach, G. P. Telemann, F. Kuhlau, and others. Many modern collectives and communities in different countries use this name. Andrei Gavrilov (in Russian Андрей Гаврилов; born September 21, 1955) is a Swiss pianist of Russian background. Early life and music career Andrei Gavrilov was born into a family of artists in Moscow. His father was Vladimir Gavrilov (May 30, 1923 – December 4, 1970), one of the eminent Russian painters during the middle of the 20th century, through whom Gavrilov also has German ancestors. His mother was the Armenian pianist Assanetta Eguiserian (December 20, 1925 – November 29, 2006), who had studied with Heinrich Neuhaus and gave Gavrilov his first piano lessons at age 2. In 1961 he was inducted at the Moscow Central Music School and became a student of Tatyana Kestner, who had studied with Alexander Goldenweiser. Antonii Baryshevskyi
Antonii Baryshevskyi ( uk, Антоній Сергійович Баришевський, link=no) is a Ukrainian concert pianist. He won first prize at the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition and second prize at the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition. Baryshevskyi performs as soloist, chamber musician and with symphony orchestras. Life and work Baryshevskyi played a concert in Kyiv Philharmonic on 22 February 2022, the day before the Russian invasion of Ukraine. On the first day of the war he went to Lviv and start volunteering. Collegium Musicum
The Collegium Musicum was one of several types of musical societies that arose in German and German-Swiss cities and towns during the Reformation and thrived into the mid-18th century. Generally, while societies such as the (chorale) cultivated vocal music for church performance and the convivium musicum discussed musical philosophy over a banquet, the collegia musica performed both vocal and instrumental music for pleasure; they focused on instrumental music as it rose in stature during the Baroque era. Though closed amateur societies in concept, collegia frequently included professionals to fill out the music and admitted non-members to performances. Moreover, they often provided music for church, state, and academic occasions and gained the patronage of leading citizens.
