Collectors Club
Collectors Club were an English indie rock band based in Liverpool. Formed in 2010, the band consisted of Joe Smithson (Guitar and vocals), Jesse Eigen (Bass and vocals), Jack Kelsey (Guitar and vocals) and Dave Ormsby (Drums). History Formed in 2010 as a sixth-form band, Collectors Club was originally a six-piece band including Joe Smithson and Lewis Mondal, who were both at the time members of Middlesbrough-based band The Master Colony. Focused initially on recording music than on playing it live, the band played their first gig at Uncle Albert's in Middlesbrough in December 2010, by which point several tracks had already been made available to download free via music sharing site SoundCloud. This had gathered the group a following already and made the first gig a success, and following attention from Bob Fischer of BBC Radio Tees, the band were offered a headline gig at Middlesbrough club Empire, with support from Toyger. Middlesbrough
Middlesbrough ( ) is a town on the southern bank of the River Tees in North Yorkshire, England. It is near the North York Moors national park. It is the namesake and main town of its local borough council area. Until the early 1800s, the area was rural farming land. By 1830, a new industrial town and port started to be developed, driven by the coal and later ironworks. Steel production and ship building began in the late 1800s, remaining associated with the town until post-industrial decline occurred in the late twentieth century. Jessica Robinson (sometimes credited as 'Jessica Close' or 'Jessica Daley') is an English singer and actress. Robinson is most noted for her participation in the 2010 BBC talent-search '' Over the Rainbow''. Background Robinson lives with her parents and brother in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire. As a child, Robinson attended St Gabriel's Primary School followed by St Peter's Secondary School, in Middlesbrough. Christopher Charles Hawkins (born 23 September 1975) is a British radio presenter, DJ, and music pundit. Hawkins is a regular early morning presenter on BBC Radio 6 Music. He can also be heard presenting documentary programmes on BBC Radio 4 and makes occasional appearances on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 5 live. ''Drowned in Sound'', sometimes abbreviated to ''DiS'', is a UK-based music webzine financed by artist management company Silentway. Founded by editor Sean Adams, the site features reviews, news, interviews, and discussion forums. History ''DiS'' began as an email fanzine in 1998 called ''The Last Resort'' but was relaunched by founder and editor Sean Adams as ''Drowned in Sound'' in 2000. The freelance writing team is currently spread across four continents – North America, Asia, Europe and Australasia. The site is mostly based on contributions from unpaid writers and has an integrated forum to allow for discussion and comments on interviews, news and reviews. Little Comets are an English indie rock trio from Jarrow and Washington, Tyne and Wear. They are described as playing "kitchen sink indie" music. In early 2009 the band were signed to Columbia Records following numerous gigs in strange locations such as lecture theatres and various modes of public transport and support from DJ Huw Stephens. After departing their major record label they released their début album, '' In Search of Elusive Little Comets'', on 31 January 2011. The band released their second album, '' Life is Elsewhere'', on 15 October 2012 under Dirty Hit records. Their fourth album '' Worhead'' was released in March 2017 on the band's own label. Bombay Bicycle Club are an English indie rock band from Crouch End, London, consisting of Jack Steadman, Jamie MacColl, Suren de Saram, and Ed Nash. They are guitar-fronted and have experimented with different genres, including folk, electronica, world music and indie rock. The band were given the opening slot on 2006's V Festival after winning a competition. They subsequently released two EPs and their debut single " Evening/Morning". Since then, the band has released five albums including '' So Long, See You Tomorrow'' which topped the album charts in February 2014. Vampire Weekend is an American rock band from New York City, formed in 2006 and currently signed to Columbia Records. The band was formed by lead vocalist and guitarist Ezra Koenig, multi-instrumentalist Rostam Batmanglij, drummer Chris Tomson, and bassist Chris Baio. Batmanglij departed the group in early 2016. Martha And The Vandellas
Martha and the Vandellas (known from 1967 to 1972 as Martha Reeves & The Vandellas) were an American vocal girl group formed in Detroit in 1957. The group achieved fame in the 1960s with Motown. An act founded by friends Annette Beard, Rosalind Ashford and Gloria Williams, the group eventually included Martha Reeves, who moved up in ranks as lead vocalist of the group after Williams' departure in 1962. The group signed with and eventually recorded all of their singles for Motown's Gordy imprint. The Human League
The Human League are an English synth-pop band formed in Sheffield in 1977. Initially an experimental electronic outfit, the group signed to Virgin Records in 1979 and later attained widespread commercial success with their third album '' Dare'' in 1981 after restructuring their lineup. The album contained four hit singles, including the UK/US number one hit "Don't You Want Me". The band received the Brit Award for Best British Breakthrough Act in 1982.
