Colin Niven
Colin Niven (6 September 1903 – 1 December 1968) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Fitzroy Football Club, Fitzroy and Melbourne Football Club, Melbourne in the Australian Football League, Victorian Football League (VFL). Family The son of Colin Niven (1870-1938), and Ida Bell Niven (1875-1947), née Lewis, Colin Leslie Niven was born at Bealiba, Victoria on 6 September 1903. His cousin once removed, Gordon Jones (Australian footballer), Gordon Jones, also played for Melbourne. He married Ada Dorothy Smith in 1934. Footballer Niven, a follower, played with Maryborough Football Club, Maryborough in the Ballarat Football League and won their 1927 best and fairest award, prior to joining Fitzroy. Fitzroy Football Club Coaches
This is a list of people who coached the Fitzroy Football Club in a senior Australian Football League (AFL) game. Playing the sport of Australian rules football, the Fitzroy Football Club was formed in September 1883, and began playing in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) the following season. Originally based at the Brunswick Street Oval, the club won its first VFA premiership in 1895, but quit the league two years later to join the newly formed Victorian Football League (VFL). Fitzroy won consecutive VFL premierships between 1898 and 1899 and between 1904 and 1905. Prior to the 1911 VFL season, 1911 season, there was no official position of coach. Bealiba
Bealiba is a town in the Central Goldfields Shire and Shire of Loddon, Victoria, Australia. The town is located north-west of the state capital, Melbourne, and from the regional city of Bendigo. At the , Bealiba and the surrounding area had a population of 300. History The name is derived from the Djadjawurrung word "Beal-ba" meaning "the red or flooded gum tree". The first Europeans in the Bealiba area were drovers in the 1840s and in 1845 George Coutts was the first European permanent settler. In the midst of the Victorian gold rush, gold was discovered in Bealiba in 1856 and for 18 months the town grew to a population of 18,000. After the rush subsided, the area was opened up for selection by farmers. Facilities in Bealiba include a post office and general store. The North Central Football League is an Australian rules football league based in North Central Victoria, Australia. History At a Delegate's meeting in April 1930 of the North Central District Football League, the following club's had withdrew from the competition - Birchip, Donald, St Arnaud and Watchem and it was decided to abandoned the NCDFL for 1930. The North Central Football League was then formed around May 1930 from the following clubs - Birchip, Donald, St. Arnaud and Watchem. In 1937, the North Central FL decided on playing their competition on the Wednesday afternoon half holiday day, which meant that Birchip and Woomelang clubs were forced to apply for admission to the Ouyen Football League.
