Cold Brook Feed Mill
Cold Brook Feed Mill is a historic grist mill located at Cold Brook in Herkimer County, New York. It includes the mill, mill dam, flume, and land on both sides of the stream between the mill and dam. The mill is a simple wood-frame structure built in 1857. The main block is two story, square structure with a shed roof, and attached is a one-story, plus basement, lean-to, added after 1857. It is equipped with the original water powered stone grinder and corn sheller. Cold Brook is a village in Herkimer County, New York. The population was 329 at the time of the 2010 census. It is named after a stream passing through the village. The village is located in the south part of the town of Russia and is northeast of Utica. History The water power of Cold Brook encouraged settlers, who arrived after 1800. The 1857 Cold Brook Feed Mill was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. Geography Cold Brook is located at (43.240968, -75.039221). Herkimer County is a county in the U.S. state of New York. As of the 2020 census, the population was 60,139. Its county seat is Herkimer. The county was created in 1791 north of the Mohawk River out of part of Montgomery County.
