History Coffey was originally called Salem and then Coffeyburg, and under the latter name was laid out in 1856 by B. H. Coffey, and named for him. Directed by , it is a film adaptation of ''The Famous Five (novel series), The Famous Five'' series by Enid Blyton, which is based primarily on the 1947 book ''Five on Kirrin Island Again''.
