Beti George
Beti George (born 19 January 1939) is a Welsh broadcaster of television and radio. She began working for the BBC in Swansea and was best known for presenting the nightly Welsh-language news programme, ''Newyddion''. Since 1987 she has presented a radio programme called ''Beti a'i Phobol'' on BBC Radio Cymru. Biography Early life George was born n Coed-y-bryn near Llangrannog. She studied at Cardiff University and Aberystwyth University. George taught at a grammar school in Brecon for 18 months. Career George started her career as a freelance with the BBC as a reporter for the programme "Bore Da" (''Good Morning'') alongside T. Glynne Davies who inspired her. She also introduced a number of music programmes as well as presenting the Welsh-language news broadcast ''Newyddion'' on S4C. She was one of the presenters of a series called ''DNA Wales''; it broadcast a special programme on St. David's Day in 2015 and showed a series of four programmes between November and December 2015. ... Troedyraur
Troedyraur is a small village, wider rural community and electoral ward in Ceredigion, Wales. The community consisting of several small villages, the population as of the 2011 UK Census was 1,310. The village is on a minor road about 3 miles (5 km) to the north of Newcastle Emlyn. Other villages in the Community are Rhydlewis, Ffostrasol, Brongest, Capel Cynon, Coed-y-bryn, Croes-lan, Penrhiwpâl and Llangynllo. The main river flowing through the community is the Afon Ceri, a tributary of the river Teifi. There is a hillfort, Dinas Cerdin, and the ruined mansion of Bronwydd. Troedyraur is represented at local level by Troed-yr-aur Community Council, which consists of ten community councillors. Siân James (novelist)
Siân James (20 September 1930 – 21 July 2021) was a Welsh novelist, academic and translator, who wrote in English. Her third novel, '' A Small Country'', is seen as a classic of Anglo-Welsh literature. Her 1996 short-story collection '' Not Singing Exactly'' won the English-language category in Wales Book of the Year, the first book by a woman to do so. Birth and academic posts James, born in Coed-y-bryn in Ceredigion, attended the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. She was a Fellow of the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, and of the Welsh Academy. She taught on the University of Glamorgan's Masters' degree in Creative Writing. She was later awarded an honorary doctorate by the university for her contribution to literature in Wales. Ceredigion (), historically Cardiganshire (, ), is a Principal areas of Wales, county in the West Wales, west of Wales. Ceredigion (Senedd Constituency)
Ceredigion is a constituency of the Senedd. It elects one Member of the Senedd by the first past the post method of election. A community () is a division of land that forms the lowest tier of local government in Wales. Welsh communities are analogous to civil parishes in England but, unlike English parishes, communities cover the whole of Wales. Elin Jones
Elin Jones (born 1 September 1966), is a Welsh politician who has served as the Llywydd of the Senedd since 2016. A member of Plaid Cymru, Jones has been the Member of the Senedd (MS) for Ceredigion since 1999. Background Jones attended Llanwnnen Primary School and Lampeter Comprehensive. She graduated from University of Wales, Cardiff with a BSc in Economics and took a post-graduate MSc in Agricultural Economics at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth in 1989. Previously she was employed as an Economic Development officer for the Development Board for Rural Wales. She is a former Shadow Environment, Planning and Countryside Minister. Jones speaks Welsh and English. She is also a former director of Radio Ceredigion and of Wes Glei Cyf, a television production company. Ben Lake
Ben Morgan Lake (born 22 January 1993) is a Plaid Cymru politician who became the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ceredigion Preseli, formerly Ceredigion, in 2017. Background Lake was born in Carmarthen and brought up in Lampeter. He is the son of a police officer and a council worker. He attended Ffynnonbedr Primary School and Ysgol Bro Pedr. After graduating from Trinity College, Oxford, with an undergraduate degree in History and Politics, and a master's degree in Modern British and European History, he became a research officer in the National Assembly for Wales. His first language is Welsh, which was seen as a key factor in his election as MP for one of the strongest Welsh-speaking constituencies in Wales.
