Cobh Wanderers F.C.
The Cobh Wanderers F.C. is a football club based in Ireland, which existed from 1925 until the 1940s, and again from 1981 to the present day. History Previous club (1920s-1940s) The original Cobh Wanderers club was founded in 1925. There was a popular district league in Cobh in the 1920s with such teams as Red Rovers, Blue Rovers, Sunny Havanas, Pride of the East and Springfield taking part. Brothers Jack Hurley and Pakie Hurley, both ex-service P.E. instructors, brought together a number of players to form a new club, Cobh Wanderers, to compete in this league. Several footballers, who played with the club in its early years, including Henry Ward, Mick Doherty and Tom Burke, subsequently gained international honours. The team started at minor level and had a win in the final of the Cork Minor Cup in 1925/26, beating Sutton 7–0 at Victoria Cross, Cork. FAI Junior Cup
The FAI Junior Cup is a cup competition organized by the Football Association of Ireland for junior association football clubs from the Republic of Ireland. The inaugural winners were Brideville. The competition's most successful club is Fairview Rangers of the Limerick & District League who have been winners nine times. According to the FAI, the FAI Junior Cup is one of the largest national amateur cup competitions in Europe. The 2012–13 competition saw an estimated 600 clubs enter the cup. The competition also serves a qualifier for the senior FAI Cup with the four semi-finalists all invited to take part in the FAI Cup. Cobh ( ,), known from 1849 until 1920 as Queenstown, is a seaport town on the south coast of County Cork, Ireland. With a population of around 13,000 inhabitants, Cobh is on the south side of Great Island in Cork Harbour and home to Ireland's only dedicated cruise terminal. Ticknock
Ticknock or Tiknock () is a townland southwest of Sandyford in Dublin at the northeastern foothills of the Dublin Mountains. The townland of Tiknock is in the electoral division of Dundrum, and has an area of approximately . There are a number of walking and biking trails in the locality, including in the Ticknock Forest amenity which is managed by Coillte. Described as one of Coillte's "most popular" and most visited sites, during 2020 Coillte replanted a number of sections of the commercial coniferous woodland at Ticknock with native deciduous trees. The FAI Intermediate Cup ( ga, Corn Comortais Peile na hÉireann), also known as the FAI Umbro Intermediate Cup and the Pat O'Brien Intermediate Challenge Cup, is a cup competition organized by the Football Association of Ireland for intermediate association football clubs from the Republic of Ireland.
