Clydebank High School
Clydebank High School is a non-denominational secondary school in Clydebank, Scotland. It is one of three non-denominational secondary schools in West Dunbartonshire. History The Education (Scotland) Act 1872 created for the first time mandatory education for children aged 5–13. As a result, the Old Kilpatrick School Board made arrangements for the first 'Clydebank School' to be created in the canteen (or 'bothy') of the shipyard. The first day when pupils were enrolled was 11 August 1873. Prior to this, 'Mrs Pitblado's Adventure school' existed, but her school, which was based in a tenement house, declined to come under the control of the school board (as required by the Education (Scotland) Act) and is therefore not considered part of the heritage of today's school. After the rise of population in the area caused the creation of the town of Clydebank, a new school building was needed. Donald Macaulay, Baron Macaulay of Bragar, QC (14 November 1933 – 12 June 2014) was a British Labour politician and member of the House of Lords. Bobby Hope
Robert Hope (28 September 1943 – 10 June 2022) was a Scottish footballer who made more than 400 appearances as a midfielder in the Football League. He spent most of his club career at West Bromwich Albion, where he played more than 300 league games and helped the club win two major trophies. He won seven caps for Scotland. William Stewart Hillis (28 September 1943 − 21 July 2014) was a Scottish physician who held a professorship in cardiology and exercise medicine. Scott Henry (born 20 January 1987) is a Scottish professional golfer. He won the 2012 Kazakhstan Open on the Challenge Tour. Amateur career Henry had a successful junior career winning a number of Scottish boys titles and playing in the Jacques Léglise Trophy in 2004 and 2005, captaining the Great Britain & Ireland team on the latter occasion. Asa Hartford
Richard Asa Hartford (born 24 October 1950) is a Scottish former football player and coach. He started his professional career with West Bromwich Albion. His early progress led to a proposed transfer to Leeds United in November 1971, but this collapsed when a medical examination discovered a heart condition. Hartford instead moved to Manchester City in 1974. He helped City win the 1976 League Cup Final. After a brief spell with Nottingham Forest, Hartford moved to Everton in 1979 and then had a second spell with Manchester City. After playing for Fort Lauderdale Sun, Hartford joined Norwich City. Alan Gow
Alan Gow (born 9 October 1982) is a Scottish former footballer. As a player he played as either a striker or an attacking midfielder. He is currently under-18s manager of Airdrieonians. Gow started his senior career with his hometown club Clydebank, and continued with Airdrie United after they took over the league place and assets of Clydebank in 2002. He then moved to Scottish Premier League club Falkirk in 2005, and his performances there earned him a transfer to Rangers. Scott James Cuthbert (born 15 June 1987) is a Scottish former professional footballer who played as a defender. He is currently a first-team coach at Stevenage.
