Sete de Dourados is currently ranked sixth among Mato Grosso do Sul teams in CBF's national club ranking, at 216th place overall. History The club was founded in 1994 but only made its first professional game in 2005, which was the year that the Sete de Dourados won the title of Campeonato Sul-Mato-Grossense Second Division. In 2016, the club won in an unprecedented way the main division of Campeonato Sul-Mato-Grossense. The Campeonato Sul-Mato-Grossense is the football (soccer), football league of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. Before 1979, the Sul-Mato-Grossense clubs competed in the Campeonato Mato-Grossense, because Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul were a single state. Dourados is a Brazilian municipality, situated in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Southwest of Campo Grande (the state's capital). It has a population of about 225,000 inhabitants, and its economy is based mainly in arable agriculture (particularly Soya, Maize and Sugar Cane) and in cattle ranching. Dourados is also the second most populous and important city of this state.
