Club Independiente Petrolero is a professional football club from Sucre, Bolivia, currently competing in the Bolivian Primera División, the top-tier football league in Bolivia. The club was founded on April 4, 1932 and plays its home games at the Estadio Olímpico Patria. The team had two spells in the old Liga de Fútbol Profesional Boliviano. The first one lasted from 1981 to 1983 and the second one from 1990 to 2003. Since 2021 they have competed in the División Profesional. Estadio Olímpico Patria is a multi-purpose stadium in Sucre, capital of Bolivia. Antonio Thomaz Santos de Barros (born 2 May 1986), commonly known as Thomaz, is a Bolivian nationalized Brazilian professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Independiente Petrolero. Career Thomaz played for Clube Atlético Juventus and Grêmio Barueri in his native Brazil before signing for Swiss club Chiasso in 2007. After spending the 2007–08 season in Switzerland, during which he scored four goals, Thomaz returned to Brazil to play for Avaí. The Copa CONMEBOL () was an annual football cup competition organized by CONMEBOL between 1992 and 1999 for South American football clubs. During its time of existence, it was a very prestigious South American club football contest, similar to the UEFA Cup. Clubs qualified for the competition based on their performance in their national leagues and cup competitions. Teams that were not able to qualify for the Copa Libertadores would play in this tournament. The tournament was played as a knockout cup. The tournament ended in 1999, following the expansion of the Copa Libertadores to 32 teams. The 2022 Copa CONMEBOL Libertadores was the 63rd edition of the CONMEBOL Libertadores (also referred to as the ''Copa Libertadores''), South America's premier club football tournament organized by CONMEBOL. On 14 May 2020, CONMEBOL announced the candidate venues for the 2021, 2022 and 2023 club competition finals.
