Clorofila (Jorge Verdín)
Jorge Verdin, known professionally as Clorofila, is one of the pioneers of the Nortec, Nortec (norteño-techno) musical style that originated in Tijuana, Mexico. Clorofila first came to prominence as a member of Tijuana-based music project Nortec Collective, a group formed by various individual producers and performers. He participated on both Nortec Collective albums (''Tijuana Sessions Vol 1'' and ''Tijuana Sessions Vol 3'') under his Nortec identity Clorofila. After the break-up of the collective, Verdin recorded and released two solo albums as Clorofila (''Corridos Urbanos'' and ''Ahorita Vengo'') and two as Tremolo Audio (''Visitas'' and ''Panorama''), and co-wrote and co-produced an album of atmospheric post-rock with Jose Luis Martin under the name Observador. Nortec (from the combination of " norteño" and "techno") is a genre of electronic dance music developed in Tijuana (a border city in Baja California, Mexico Mexico ( Spanish: México), officially the United Mexican States, is a country in the southern portion of North America. Panoptica
Roberto A. Mendoza, known as Panoptica, has been one of the figures in the Mexican electronic music scene since the late 1980s, founding bands like electro pos-industrial outfit Artefakto and in the late 1990s being part of the Tijuana-based norteña-meets-techno Nortec Collective. He has also been releasing tracks as Panóptica and it was under this name that English DJ John Peel took notice, inviting him to do one of his Peel sessions for the BBC in 2001. Los Tigres del Norte (English: ''The Tigers of the North'') are a norteño band from San Jose, California. Originally founded in Mocorito, Sinaloa, Mexico, with sales of 60 million albums, the band is one of the most recognized groups in the genre, due to its long history and its successes within the Mexican community in the diaspora. The band is famous for its political corridos, some of which have been censored, even in its own country. The band is the only Mexican group to win 6 Grammy awards and 12 Latin Grammys. Gustavo Adolfo Dudamel Ramírez (born 26 January 1981) is a Venezuelan conductor and violinist who is the music director of the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Paris Opera. Early life Dudamel was born in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, the son of a trombonist and a voice teacher. He studied music from an early age, becoming involved with El Sistema, the famous Venezuelan musical education program, and took up the violin at age ten. He soon began to study composition. He attended the Jacinto Lara Conservatory, where José Luis Jiménez was among his violin teachers. He then went on to work with José Francisco del Castillo at the Latin-American Violin Academy. Gabriela Ortiz (born 1964) is a Mexican music educator and composer. Biography Gabriela Ortiz Torres was born in Mexico City of parents who were folk musicians. She learned folk music at home, and then studied in Paris at the Ecole Normale de Musique. She returned to Mexico City due to the illness of her mother, and studied composition there with Mario Lavista at the National Conservatory of Music. She continued her studies at the Guildhall School with Robert Saxton, and with Simon Emmerson at the University of London where she received a PhD in 1996. Rigo Tovar
Rigoberto Tovar García (March 29, 1946 – March 27, 2005), better known as Rigo Tovar, was a Mexican musician, singer and actor. Famous for his cumbias, Tovar infused traditional Mexican and Latin music with modern instruments like the electric guitar and synthesizer and popular styles such as rock and soul music. Tovar was born and raised in Matamoros, Tamaulipas. After moving to the neighborhood of East End in Houston, Texas, his musical career began to take off in the early 1970s. Matias Aguayo
Matias Aguayo (born 1973 in Santiago, Chile) is a Chilean-German techno producer and DJ. Aguayo grew up in Gummersbach, Germany. In 1997, working with Michael Mayer under the project name Zimt, he released his first singe "U.O.A.A." on the label Ladomat 2000. Shortly afterwards he founded the project Closer Musik with Dirk Leyers. In 2004, the group disbanded and Aguayo launched his solo career with the album ''Are You Really Lost?''.
