Clodine, Texas
Clodine ( ) is an unincorporated community in Fort Bend County, Texas, United States. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had a population of 31 in 1990. It is located in the Greater Houston metro area. History Clodine was first established in the 1880s as a station on the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway. The town was named after a railroad official named Clodine KIng. Clodine had acquired a post office by 1893. In 1896 the town had a general store, a Baptist church, and 50 residents. By 1914, Clodine had telephone and telegraph connections and 25 residents. The population decreased to 10 in 1925, then grew to 70 four years later. The Texas and New Orleans Railroad bought the San Antonio and Aransas Pass line in 1934 and removed the depot and section houses. By 1936, the town had gained a factory and several businesses. Richmond is a suburb of Houston and the county seat of Fort Bend County, Texas, United States. The city is located within the metropolitan area. The ''Fort Bend Herald and Texas Coaster'' is a newspaper based in Rosenberg, Texas, covering the Fort Bend County area of Texas. It publishes six days a week (excluding Saturday). It is owned by Hartman Newspapers. History The ''Richmond Democrat'' (est. 1888) changed its name to ''The Texas Coaster'' in 1895 when George Dunlop purchased it. His family continued to publish the paper after his death in 1900, selling to J.C. Florea in 1905. H.M. Shannon bought the paper in 1911, publishing it until he died in 1938. Farm to Market Road 1464 (FM 1464) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Texas that stays within Fort Bend County. The highway starts from State Highway 99 (SH 99) in Sugar Land and goes north to FM 1093 at Clodine. The four-lane divided highway passes through both rural and suburban areas. Route description FM 1464 begins at a traffic signal on SH 99 about north of the intersection of SH 99 and U.S. Route 90A (US 90 Alt.).
