Clinton F. Larson
Clinton Foster Larson (1919–1994) was an American poet and playwright and the founding editor of ''BYU Studies''. Larson was born in American Fork, Utah to Clinton Larson and his wife, the former Lillian Foster. Larson started college at the University of Utah at age 16 with plans to study medicine. However, he had an English class with Brewster Ghiselin who convinced him to that he had potential as a writer. He served as an LDS missionary in England and then in New England from 1939–41. In 1942 he married Naomi Barlow in the Salt Lake Temple. Around this time he entered the Army Air Corps in which he served during the duration of World War II. He completed his bachelor's degree at the University of Utah and later earned a master's degree from the same institution in 1948. He received a Ph.D. in English from the University of Denver. BYU Studies
''BYU Studies'' is a multidisciplinary academic journal covering a broad array of topics related to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ( Mormon studies). It is published by the church-owned Brigham Young University. The journal is abstracted and indexed in the ATLA Religion Database. History Originally proposed as ''Wasatch Review'', the periodical was established as ''Brigham Young University Studies'' and was first printed in January 1959, as an issue of ''Brigham Young University Bulletin'' printed by BYU Press. In April 2012 the journal was renamed ''BYU Studies Quarterly.'' In January 2023 the journal reverted to its original name, ''BYU Studies'' (dropping ''Quarterly''). The tagline for ''BYU Studies'' is "Scholarship Aligned with the Gospel of Jesus Christ." The BYU Studies logo was changed in January 2023 to align with the logo of its parent institution, Brigham Young University. American Fork, Utah
American Fork is a city in north-central Utah County, Utah, United States, at the foot of Mount Timpanogos in the Wasatch Range, north from Utah Lake. The city is southeast of Salt Lake City and is part of the Provo–Orem metropolitan area, Provo–Orem Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 33,337 in 2020. The city has grown rapidly since the 1970s. History The area around Utah Lake was used as a seasonal hunting and fishing ground by the Ute Indians. American Fork was settled in 1850 by Mormon pioneers and incorporated as Lake City in 1852.
