Clifford Lawrence Doan (April 27, 1905 – November 25, 1990) was a provincial level politician from Alberta, Canada. He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1971 to 1979 sitting with the governing Progressive Conservative caucus. Political career Doan ran for a seat to the Alberta Legislature in the 1971 Alberta general election. He ran against Social Credit incumbent William Ure in the new electoral district of Innisfail. Doan won the straight fight defeating Ure by less than 300 votes. Innisfail was a provincial electoral district in Alberta, Canada, mandated to return a single member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1905 to 1940 and again from 1971 to 1993. History Innisfail was one of the original 25 electoral districts contested in the 1905 Alberta general election upon Alberta joining Confederation in September 1905. The electoral district was a continuation of the Innisfail Northwest Territories electoral district which was formed in 1902. Alban MacLellan
Alban Erskine MacLellan (February 9, 1902 – December 20, 1968) was a railway foreman and a provincial politician from Alberta, Canada. He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1935 to 1940 sitting with the Social Credit caucus in government. Political career MacLellan ran for a seat to the Alberta Legislature as a Social Credit candidate in the electoral district of Innisfail for the 1935 Alberta general election. He won a strong first ballot majority defeating three other candidates to pick up the seat for his party. The 1940 boundary redistribution saw the Innisfail electoral district get abolished, along with other districts whose representatives had gone against the Social Credit party line. Nigel Ian Pengelly (May 29, 1925 – July 3, 2010) was a provincial level politician from Alberta, Canada. He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1979 to 1989. He sat in the back benches of the governing Progressive Conservative caucus. Political career Pengelly ran for a seat to the Alberta Legislative Assembly in the 1979 Alberta general election. The 1971 Alberta general election was the seventeenth general election held in the Province of Alberta, Canada on August 30, 1971, to elect seventy-five members of the Alberta Legislature to form the 17th Alberta Legislative Assembly. The Progressive Conservative Association of Alberta led by Peter Lougheed won 49 of 75 seats with 46.4 per cent of the popular vote in the new legislature to form a majority government. Lougheed's Progressive Conservatives defeated the incumbent Social Credit Party led by Premier Harry Strom who won 25 seats with 41.1 per cent of the popular vote. William Kenneth Ure (December 22, 1913 — February 4, 2001) was a provincial level politician from Alberta, Canada. He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1959 to 1971 sitting with the governing Social Credit caucus.
