Clifford Braimah
Clifford Braimah is a Ghanaian engineer, academic and politician. He is a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of Ghana and has served as the Northern Regional secretary of the party. He served as the Dean of the Department of Engineering of the Tamale Technical University. He is currently the managing director of the Ghana Water Company Limited. In 2018 he received the Humanity Magazine International Award for his efforts to improve Ghanaian drinking water quality. Early life and education Clifford Braimah was admitted to the College of Engineering of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology where he graduated after his four-year education with a BSc in engineering. He obtained a MSc in Environmental Resources Management from the same university. He holds a PhD in Water Management from Cranfield University, United Kingdom. Nana Akuffo-Addo
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo ( ; born 29 March 1944) is a Ghanaian politician who has served as the president of Ghana since 7 January 2017. In 2020, he was re-elected for his second term, which will end on 6 January 2025. Akufo-Addo previously served as Attorney General from 2001 to 2003 and as Minister for Foreign Affairs from 2003 to 2007 under the Kufuor-led administration. Joseph Kofi Kowe Adda (22 April 1956 – 14 October 2021) was a Ghanaian politician, who served as a Member of Parliament and also the Minister for Aviation in the New Patriotic Party government under President Akufo-Addo until January 2021. He was also a Financial Economist and a Management Consultant. Aluminium sulfate is a salt with the formula Al2 (SO4)3. It is soluble in water and is mainly used as a coagulating agent (promoting particle collision by neutralizing charge) in the purification of drinking water and wastewater treatment plants, and also in paper manufacturing. Galamsey
Galamsey, derived from the phrase "gather them and sell", is a local Ghanaian parlance that means illegal small-scale, gold mining in Ghana. Such workers are known as galamseyers or ''orpailleurs'' in neighboring Francophone nations. Galamseyers are people who perform illegal gold mining independent of mining companies, digging small working pits, tunnels, and sluices by hand. Galamsey is also referred to as Illegal Artisanal Small Scale mining (ASM). Background Generally the galamseyers can dig only to a limited depth, far shallower and smaller than commercial mining companies. Under current Ghanaian law, it is illegal for galamseyers to dig on land granted to mining companies as concessions or licenses. Operation Vanguard is a Military Police Joint Task Force (JTF) set up by the President of Ghana in 2017 to combat the operation of galamsey in Ghana. Galamseyers are illegal miners and have over the years depleted Ghana's forest cover. Their activities also pollute water bodies due to the crude and unregulated nature of the mining process. Background The formation of Operation Vanguard was necessitated by the formation of the Media Coalition Against Galamsey on 4 April 2017.
