Cliff Jenkins
Cliff Jenkins (born ) is a former city councillor in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He represented Ward 25 which was one of the two Don Valley West wards, from 2003 to 2010. Jenkins was born in Hamilton to a working-class family. He attended McMaster University on a scholarship, and graduated with an undergraduate mathematics degree. He then went to the University of Toronto where he obtained a master's degree in mathematics and a bachelor's degree in education. He briefly worked as a high school math teacher before joining IBM Canada. He eventually rose to be a client executive at IBM. He first rose to prominence as the president of the York Mills Ratepayers Association. He was elected to Toronto City Council in the 2003 municipal election after incumbent Joanne Flint was appointed to the Ontario Municipal Board. Toronto City Council is the governing body of the municipal government of Toronto, Ontario. Meeting at Toronto City Hall, it comprises 25 city councillors and the mayor of Toronto. The current term began on November 15, 2022. Structure The current decision-making framework and committee structure at the City of Toronto was established by the '' City of Toronto Act, 2006'' and came into force January 1, 2007. The decision-making process at the City of Toronto involves committees that report to City Council. Committees propose, review and debate policies and recommendations before their arrival at City Council for debate. Ontario Municipal Board
The Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) was an independent administrative board, operated as an adjudicative tribunal, in the province of Ontario, Canada. It heard applications and appeals on municipal and planning disputes, as well as other matters specified in provincial legislation. The tribunal reported to the Ministry of the Attorney General from 2012 until its shuttering. The Board had been criticized for its broad powers and authority to override the Planning Act decisions of municipal councils. The Ontario Municipal Board was replaced by the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal on April 3, 2018, which was intended to have more limited powers and a reduced scope. The Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) is a non-profit organization representing municipal and regional governments in the Canadian province of Ontario. Michael Thompson is a Canadian politician who has been a Toronto city councillor since 2003. He currently represents Ward 21 Scarborough Centre. Cesar Palacio ( , ) is a Canadian politician. He was the Toronto city councillor for Ward 17 Davenport during the years 2003–2018. He was the first Hispanic person to be elected to Toronto's City Council. Biography Born in Ecuador he followed his father to Toronto in 1972. Working several blue-collar jobs he first became involved in politics as a volunteer with local MP Charles Caccia. Chin Lee () is a former Canadian city councillor in Toronto, Ontario, Canada from Scarborough for Ward 41 Scarborough-Rouge River until his resignation in May 2018.
