Clickpop Records
Clickpop Records is an independent record label in Bellingham, Washington that releases music predominantly from the Pacific Northwest. Bands who have achieved this goal to some degree include Idiot Pilot (who signed with Reprise Records shortly after releasing the first album) and The Trucks who have gained a nationwide audience and have been featured on the cable TV program ''The L Word''. Founded by Paul Turpin and Dave Richards, the label has also put out albums by Kristin Allen-Zito (a member of The Trucks), Jenni Potts, Black Eyes & Neckties, Darin Schaffer, Scatterbox, Prosser, and Delay. From 2006 through 2007, the label had a co-release deal with SpinArt Records. This resulted in widespread promotion and distribution through Rykodisc, particularly regarding early albums by The Trucks and Prosser that were released during that time. An independent record label (or indie label) is a record label that operates without the funding or distribution of major record labels; they are a type of small- to medium-sized enterprise, or SME. Bellingham ( ) is the most populous city in, and county seat of Whatcom County in the U.S. state of Washington. Idiot Pilot
Idiot Pilot is an alternative rock duo from Bellingham, Washington, consisting of Michael Harris and Daniel Anderson. History After their previous band, pop-punk outfit Azero Cherry, broke up, high schoolers Michael Harris and Daniel Anderson decided to go it alone and started Idiot Pilot. Their debut album, '' Strange We Should Meet Here'' was originally self-released, before they were signed and remastered by Reprise. The band has collaborated with Chino Moreno of Deftones for their '' B-Sides & Rarities'' album. They have previously toured in the UK, but have also done stints in the US. These have been with acts such as Team Sleep, +44, The Seal Cub Clubbing Club, The Smashing Pumpkins, and The Used. The Trucks
The Trucks was an electronic rock band originally formed in Bellingham, Washington. It was founded in 2003, to fill a lack of female bands for a festival, by Kristin Allen-Zito, Faith Reichel, and Marissa Moore, and later added Lindy McIntyre (formerly of Everybody's Debbie) on drums. The Trucks went on to become a popular band in the Northwest music scene, opening for such acts as Federation X, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Deadboy and the Elephantmen, Harvey Danger, and The Presidents of the United States of America. 2006 saw the release of a self-titled album by Bellingham's Clickpop Records. Black Eyes & Neckties is an American horror punk/ punk rock band from Bellingham, Washington, United States. History Often abbreviated as "BENt", Black Eyes & Neckties was formed in 2002 by founding members Ryan Greer (Cadaver), Bradley Lockhart (Horror), Davey Albert (Crypt), Thomas Robinson (Juan) and Ryan Patterson (Dead Sexy). SpinART Records was a New York City-based independent record label that released recordings by The Apples in Stereo, Clem Snide, Frank Black, and Michael Penn. The label was started by Joel Morowitz and Jeff Price in 1991. SpinART filed for bankruptcy in April 2007 and went out of business. Rykodisc is an American record label owned by Warner Music Group, operating as a unit of WMG's Independent Label Group and is distributed through Alternative Distribution Alliance. History Claiming to be the first CD-only independent record label in the United States, Rykodisc was founded in 1983 in Salem, Massachusetts, by Arthur Mann, Rob Simonds, Doug Lexa and Don Rose. The name "Ryko," which the label claimed was a Japanese word meaning "sound from a flash of light," was chosen to reflect the company's CD-only policy. In the late 1980s, however, the label also began to issue high-quality cassette / vinyl and MiniDisc versions of many releases under the name Ryko Analogue.
