Cleveland Hill Union Free School District is a K-12 school district within the Cleveland Hill hamlet of Cheektowaga, New York. Fire of 1954 In 1954, a fire at the elementary school facility claimed the lives of 15 sixth-grade students, and severely burned Jackson C. Frank. The facility was made entirely of wood, prompting the United States to introduce code that prohibited wooden buildings from housing schools. Steppenwolf was a Canadian-American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1967. Christopher J. Scolese is an American engineer and intelligence official serving as the director of the National Reconnaissance Office. Miss New York
The Miss New York scholarship competition selects the representative for the state of New York in the Miss America scholarship competition. In the fall of 2018, the Miss America Organization terminated the Miss New York organization's license as well as licenses from Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and West Virginia. In March 2019, the license was awarded to Sloane Lewis and Jamie Hickman, along with a board of directors consisting of 13 members. The Buffalo Bulls are the intercollegiate athletic teams that represent the University at Buffalo (UB) in Buffalo, New York. Mickey Harmon
Michael Thoren Harmon (May 13, 1984 – March 4, 2025) was an American visual artist, graphic designer and queer activist. He was a prominent fixture of the Allentown, Buffalo, Allentown district of Buffalo, New York, living and working within the neighborhood. His commissioned murals and paintings were highly regarded, and he regularly organized community events to support the arts. Harmon and his longtime partner were both killed in a March 2025 home invasion. Their deaths received widespread media coverage, and sparked an outpouring of public support for the LGBTQ community. Canisius Golden Griffins Softball
The Canisius Golden Griffins softball team represents Canisius University in NCAA Division I college softball. The team participates in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). The Golden Griffins are currently led by head coach Kim Griffin. The team plays its home games at the Demske Sports Complex located on the college's campus.
