Cleveland District State High School is an independent coeducational public secondary school based in Cleveland in the local government area of Redland City in Queensland, Australia. As of August 2023, the school had a total enrolment of 2,254 students. Cleveland District State High School's current role of Executive Principal is held by Leonard McKeown. The school also consists of five Deputy Principals, nine Heads of Department and five Deans of Students. History In January 1956, Cleveland District State High School began operating on the grounds of Cleveland State School as the first secondary school in the Redland City area. The school had a population of 32 students and was led by Head Teacher Ted Liesegang. By 1960, the school had reached a total population of 54 students, followed by 84 in the following year. AFL Queensland Schools Cup
The AFL Queensland Schools Cup is an Australian rules football competition organised by the AFL Queensland, contested by schools from across the state of Queensland. Founded in 2016 it consists of a knockout tournament starting from several regional tournaments finalizing to a state championship series held at the Maroochydore Multisports Complex. Since its inception, it has continuously generated a great amount of participation, recently having 745 teams competing for the 2024 competition. Schools of Excellence AFL Queensland runs the Schools of Excellence competition to identify the schools around South East Queensland that operates their AFL program to a high standard. These schools play against each other in a round robin competition throughout the year, with the higher placing schools earning an automatic entry into the State Quarter or Semi Finals for the Schools Cup. Benjamin Ely (born 13 September 1970) is an Australian musician and artist best known for his work with alternative rock band Regurgitator. Early life Born in Brisbane, Ely's family moved to the outer suburb of Cleveland. During his high school years he became friends with musicians members Dave Atkins and Jim Sinclair, with whom he would later form Pangaea. Moreton Bay
Moreton Bay is a bay located on the eastern coast of Australia from central Brisbane, Queensland. It is one of Queensland's most important coastal resources. The waters of Moreton Bay are a popular destination for recreational anglers and are used by commercial operators who provide seafood to market. Sir Thomas Alfred Hiley, (25 November 1905 – 6 November 1990) an Australian politician who served as the Deputy Premier of Queensland in 1965. Early life Hiley was born in Brisbane, Queensland, the son of William and Maria Hiley (''nee'' Savage).
