Clements Center For National Security
The William P. Clements Jr. Center for National Security is a nonpartisan policy and research center at the University of Texas at Austin. The center is named after former Texas Governor and Deputy Secretary of Defense Bill Clements. The goal of the Clements Center is to teach diplomatic and military history to undergraduates and graduate students, as well as support research in the topics of history, strategy, and national security policy. Joseph Maguire
Joseph Maguire (born August 14, 1951) is an American officer who served as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center and Acting Director of National Intelligence under President Donald Trump. He retired from the United States Navy as a vice admiral in 2010 after 36 years of military service. Prior to retiring from active duty, he was the deputy director for strategic operational planning at National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC). Appointed by President Donald Trump, Maguire became Acting Director of National Intelligence on August 16, 2019, a role he held during the Trump–Ukraine scandal. Stephen Slick
Stephen Brent Slick is a former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) operations officer and United States National Security Council official. He is the inaugural director of the Intelligence Studies Project at the University of Texas at Austin, where he is also a Clinical Professor at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs and the Bobby R. Inman Chair in Intelligence Studies. William Perry Clements Jr. (April 13, 1917 – May 29, 2011) was an American businessman and Republican Party politician who served two nonconsecutive terms as the governor of Texas between 1979 and 1991. His terms bookended the sole term served by Mark Wells White, a Democrat who defeated Clements in the 1982 election only to lose his campaign for reelection in 1986. When Clements was first sworn in 1979, he became the first Republican to have served as governor of Texas since Reconstruction.
