Claës-Henrik Nordenskiöld
Major General Claës-Henrik Bengtsson (B:son) Nordenskiöld (28 July 1917 – 11 November 2003) was a Swedish Air Force officer and sailor. He was Chief of the Air Staff from 1966 to 1970 and acting Chief of the Air Force in 1968. Early life Nordenskiöld was born on 28 July 1917 in Stockholm, Sweden, the son of general Bengt Nordenskiöld and his wife Dagmar Werner. After passing ''studentexamen'' he enrolled at the Swedish Air Force Flying School where he finished first in his class. Career Nordenskiöld was commissioned as an officer with the rank of second lieutenant in the Swedish Air Force in 1941. Nordenskiöld quickly made a career, first as squadron commander at Svea Wing (F 8). He was promoted to ''löjtnant'' in 1943 and served as deputy defense attaché in Washington, D.C. from 1943 to 1945 and was promoted to captain in 1948 and to major in 1953. Lieutenant colonel (LtCol) ( sv, Överstelöjtnant, Övlt) is a field grade officer rank in the Swedish Armed Forces, just above the rank of major and just below the rank of colonel. Major (Maj) ( sv, Major, Mj) is a field grade military officer rank in the Swedish Armed Forces, above the rank of captain and below the rank of lieutenant colonel. It is equivalent to the naval rank of lieutenant commander in the Swedish Navy. Maritime Museum (Stockholm)
The Maritime Museum ( sv, Sjöhistoriska museet) in Stockholm, Sweden is a museum for naval history, merchant shipping and shipbuilding. Located in the Gärdet section of the inner-city district Östermalm, the museum offers a panoramic view of the bay Djurgårdsbrunnsviken. The building was designed by architect Ragnar Östberg and built in 1933–36. Collections The museum houses about 900,000 photos, 50,000 objects and 45,000 drawings, all related to the sea, coast, ships and boats, past and present. A major part of the collection, the boats, are housed in Boat Hall 2 at Galärvarvet in Stockholm. The boat collection ranges from canoes to Skerry cruisers. Royal Swedish Yacht Club
Royal Swedish Yacht Club ( sv, Kungliga Svenska Segelsällskapet, KSSS), is the largest and oldest yacht club in Sweden and one of the five oldest in the world, formed 15 May 1830. KSSS is also the oldest yacht club in Continental Europe. Activities include racing, training, education, squadron sailing, match racing and club activities. KSSS also operates the port and has its own ports in Saltsjöbaden and Sandhamn. The first regatta KSSS organized took place on 12 September 1833, and the first regatta with prizes in 1854. The 6 Metre World Cup are biennial international sailing regattas in the 6 Metre class organized by the International Six Metre Association. The principal trophy is the Six Metre World Cup. Swedish sailor Pelle Petterson has won most titles, with three titles between 1977 and 1983. Swiss sailor Bernard Haissly and Swedish Carl-Gustaf Piehl, have two each. The most championships has been won by Swedish sailors, on eight occasions, followed by Swiss sailors, three titles, and sailors of Canada and the United States (two each).
