The ''Classic of Arts'' () was a 3rd-century Chinese book written by Handan Chun on the various cultivated arts of ancient China. Handan Chun
Handan Chun (), courtesy name Zishu () or Zili (), also known as Handan Zhu (), was a writer, calligrapher, and official from Yingchuan Commandery (modern day Yuzhou, Henan) who served the state of Cao Wei during the early 3rd century. As a calligrapher, he was an expert in many types of scripts and was one of the first scholars to study the ''Shuowen Jiezi''. He is credited with restoring the archaic tadpole script tradition. His most famous work is the ''Xiaolin'' (), a collection of humorous anecdotes. Life The '' Shui Jing Zhu'' records that Handan Chun was a nephew of , and accompanied him when he became county magistrate in Kuaiji. In 151 Du Shang wanted to set up a stele commemorating Cao E, a girl who died trying to save her father from drowning eight years before. 9 Pin Zhi ( Chinese: 九 品 制) was an ancient Chinese ranking system for the game of Go, which first appeared in the 3rd century book ''Classic of Arts'' by Handan Chun. Go Ranks And Ratings
There are various systems of Go ranks and ratings that measure the skill in the traditional board game Go. Traditionally, Go rankings have been measured using a system of dan and kyu ranks. Especially in amateur play, these ranks facilitate the handicapping system, with a difference of one rank roughly corresponding to one free move at the beginning of the game. This system is also commonly used in many East Asian martial arts, where it often corresponds with a belt color. With the ready availability of calculators and computers, rating systems have been introduced. In such systems, a rating is rigorously calculated on the basis of game results.
