''Class Divide'' is a 2015 documentary film by Marc Levin about gentrification. The film premiered at the 2015 Doc NYC, DOC NYC. Description The documentary shows the effects of Gentrification of New York City, gentrification in Chelsea, Manhattan, Chelsea subsequent to the creation of the High Line park on the population of the neighbourhood. Since the rehabilitation of the old railways of the High Line into an urban park, the real estate market in the neighbourhood increased sharply. The documentary illustrates the impact of the changes this incurs in the life of the residents with the establishment of the for-profit private school Avenues: The World School, Avenues just opposite on 10th avenue and 25-26th streets of the Chelsea-Elliott Houses, Chelsea-Elliott housing project which offers accommodation for low-income inhabitants (in the documentary, it is reported that tuition at ''Avenues'' costs between 40 000 and $50 000 per year while the average income in the housing proj ...

Marc Levin
Marc Levin is an American independent film producer and director. He is best known for his ''Brick City (TV series), Brick City'' TV series, which won the 2010 Peabody award and was nominated for an Emmy for Exceptional Merit in Nonfiction Filmmaking and his dramatic feature film, ''Slam (1998 film), Slam'', which won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival and the Caméra d'Or at Cannes Film Festival, Cannes in 1998. He also has received three Emmy Awards (1988, 1989, 1999) and the 1997 DuPont-Columbia Award. Early life and education Levin was born January 31, 1951, in New York City and raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Elizabeth and Maplewood, New Jersey, the son of documentary filmmaker Alan Levin (filmmaker), Alan Levin. He attended Wesleyan University (class of 1973), and has described the university as key in shaping his career in film. Marc was raised Jewish.
