Clarito
Jhonard Clarito (born April 3, 1996) is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Amateur career San Juan Knights (2018–2021) Coming off a college career with De Ocampo Memorial College, Clarito joined the expansion San Juan Knights of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). Averaging 4.2 points and 4.1 rebounds in the 2018–19 MPBL season, he played an important role in the winner-take-all game 5 of the 2019 MPBL finals. In the last minute of the fourth quarter, Clarito made two crucial shots that gave San Juan the lead and eventually clinched them their first MPBL championship. 2022 FilBasket Summer Championship
The 2022 FilBasket Summer Championship, officially known as the Puregold – FilBasket 2022 Summer Championship for sponsorship reasons, was the second tournament of FilBasket, now known as AsiaBasket, the first tournament of 2022, and the first as a professional league, being granted professional status by the Games and Amusement Board (GAB) in February 2022. The tournament began on March 18, 2022, with the playoffs running from April 25 until May 8, 2022. The Nueva Ecija Capitals defeated the San Juan Knights in the Finals, which ignited a rivalry between the two teams that would extend into other leagues. 2023–24 PBA Season
The 2023–24 PBA season (or PBA season 48) was the 48th season of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Due to the participation of Philippine men's national basketball team in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup and 2022 Asian Games, the PBA season started on November 5, 2023 and would only have two conferences, first being the Commissioner's Cup, followed by the season-ending Philippine Cup. Opening day was originally scheduled on October 15, but was moved three weeks past the original date to give the players who participated in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup and the 2022 Asian Games time to rest and recover. Davao Occidental Tigers
The Davao Occidental Tigers (also known as Davao Occidental Tigers – Cocolife due to sponsorship reasons) are a Filipino professional basketball team based in the Davao metropolitan area and representing the province of Davao Occidental. The team competes in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League as a member of the league's South Division. The team hasn't played any home games in Davao Occidental, but has played at a variety of venues across Metro Davao. The franchise was founded as an expansion team in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) for its 2018–19 season. 2021 MPBL Invitational
The 2021 MPBL Invitational was the preseason tournament for the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League's 2022 season and the first edition of what would become the MPBL Preseason Invitational. The tournament began on December 11, 2021 and ended on December 23, 2021 when the Basilan Jumbo Plastic beat the Nueva Ecija Rice Vanguards in overtime, 83–80. Philip Manalang, who hit the championship-winning buzzer beater for Basilan, was adjudged as the tournament Finals MVP. All games were played at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay at 50% capacity, making it the first pro sports event in the Philippines to allow live spectators since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. 2021 FilBasket Subic Championship
The FilBasket Subic Championship, also known as the FilBasket Subic Championship – Cocolife due to sponsorship reasons, was the inaugural tournament under FilBasket, now known as AsiaBasket. It was also the only tournament held in 2021. The tournament began on October 28, 2021, with the playoffs running from November 16 to 21, 2021. The entire tournament took place at the Subic Bay Gymnasium, located in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone. The tournament was won by AICC Manila after defeating the San Juan Knights, two games to one, with Hesed Gabo winning Finals MVP honors. San Juan Knights
The San Juan Knights (also abbreviated as SJK) are a Filipino professional basketball team based in San Juan. The team competes in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) as a member of the league's North Division. The team plays its home games at Playtime Filoil Centre. The team's first incarnation was established in 1999 as a member of the Metropolitan Basketball Association (MBA) and played there until 2001. In 2018, the Knights were revived as they joined the MPBL for the 2018–19 season. The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters are a professional basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association owned by Asian Coatings Philippines, Inc. It debuted in the league in the 2006–07 PBA season after acquiring the franchise rights of the Shell Turbo Chargers in 2006, which disbanded after the 2004–05 PBA season. 2019–20 San Juan Knights Season
The 2019–20 San Juan Knights season was the second season of the franchise in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). The Knights entered the season as defending champions, and continuing their winning traditions by going undefeated in their first ten games. Eventually, they would clinch the top seed in the North Division with a record of 26–4. The twenty-six regular season wins is a record for most regular season wins in a single season, a record San Juan shares with the Davao Occidental Tigers this season and the Pampanga Giant Lanterns in 2023 and 2024.
