Clarisse Midroy, called Clarisse Miroy, and also, more simply, Clarisse, (20 April 1820 – 3 September 1870) was a French actress of the 19th century. Gymnase-Enfantin
The Gymnase-Enfantin or Gymnase des Enfants was an entertainment venue formerly located near the Passage de l'Opéra (Galerie du Baromètre, leading to the Salle Le Peletier) in the 9th arrondissement of Paris. It had a capacity of 200 spectators. In 1840–1841 it was known as the Théâtre des Jeunes-Artistes and thereafter as the Théâtre des Jeunes-Comédiens.Wild 1989, pp. 183–184. Théâtre De L'Ambigu-Comique
The Théâtre de l’Ambigu-Comique (, literally, Theatre of the Comic-Ambiguity), a former Parisian theatre, was founded in 1769 on the boulevard du Temple immediately adjacent to the Théâtre de Nicolet. It was rebuilt in 1770 and 1786, but in 1827 was destroyed by fire. A new, larger theatre with a capacity of 2,000 as compared to the earlier 1,250 was built nearby on the boulevard Saint-Martin at its intersection with the rue de Bondy and opened the following year. The theatre was eventually demolished in 1966. Antoine Louis Prosper "Frédérick" Lemaître (28 July 1800 – 26 January 1876) was a French actor and playwright, one of the most famous players on the celebrated Boulevard du Crime. Biography Lemaître, the son of an architect, was born at Le Havre, Seine-Maritime. He adopted the first name "Frédérick" as a stage name. He spent two years at the Conservatoire de Paris, and made his first appearance at a variety performance in one of the basement restaurants at the Palais Royal. At the Théâtre de l'Ambigu-Comique on 12 July 1823 he played the part of Robert Macaire in ''L'Auberge des Adrets''. The melodrama was played seriously on the first night and was received with little favor, but it was changed on the second night to burlesque, and thanks to him had a great success. Don César De Bazan (play)
''Don César de Bazan'' is an opéra comique in four acts by Jules Massenet to a French libretto by Adolphe d'Ennery, Philippe-François Pinel "Dumanoir" and Jules Chantepie, based on the play by d'Ennery and Dumanoir, which was first performed at Théâtre de la Porte Saint-Martin in 1844. This in turn drew on the popular character of Don César de Bazan, in the 1838 drama '' Ruy Blas'' by Victor Hugo, though it has little connection with the plot of Hugo's drama. Massenet's opera was first performed at the Opéra-Comique in Paris on 30 November 1872. It was the first full-length opera by Massenet to be produced, the one-act ''La grand'tante'' having been mounted five years earlier by the same company. Philippe François Pinel, known as Dumanoir (31 July 1806 – 16 November 1865), was a French playwright and librettist. Biography Dumanoir was born in Capesterre-Belle-Eau, Guadeloupe. He was the son of Mrs. Pinel-Dumanoir, whose family planted the palm trees lining the ''Allée Dumanoir'' in Guadeloupe. He left Guadeloupe in 1816. Dumanoir wrote in the theatrical genre of Comédie en vaudevilles. He was director of the Théâtre des Variétés from 1837 to 1839. In 1844, he wrote in collaboration with Adolphe d'Ennery, an eponymous drama about Don César de Bazan, one of the characters in ''Ruy Blas'' by Victor Hugo. He died in Pau. Adolphe Philippe d'Ennery or Dennery (17 June 181125 January 1899) was a French playwright and novelist. Life Born in Paris, his real surname was Philippe. He obtained his first success in collaboration with Charles Desnoyer in ''Émile, ou le fils d'un pair de France'' (1831), a drama which was the first of a series of some two hundred pieces written alone or in collaboration with other dramatists.
