Clarence W. Anderson
Clarence Wentworth Anderson (February 17, 1871 – December 16, 1944) was a Canadian politician. He represented the electoral district of Guysborough County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1920 to 1925, and 1928 to 1937. He was a member of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party. Born in 1871 at Sherbrooke, Nova Scotia, Anderson was a merchant by career. He married Annie Baker in 1894, and then Katherine Clifford MacLennan. He was a municipal councillor, serving from 1908 to 1920 as warden for the Municipality of the District of St. Mary's. Anderson entered provincial politics in 1920, when he was elected in the dual-member Guysborough County riding with Liberal James Cranswick Tory. Both Anderson and Tory were defeated when they ran for re-election in 1925, but Anderson regained the seat in the 1928 election, serving with Liberal Michael E. Morrison. Sherbrooke, Nova Scotia
Sherbrooke is an unincorporated community on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia, Canada, in Guysborough County. It is located along the St. Mary's River, a major river in Nova Scotia. The community is named for Sir John Coape Sherbrooke, a colonial era Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. Gold was discovered in the area in 1861 and Sherbrooke entered a gold rush which lasted two decades. The economy of the community today revolves around fishing, tourism and lumber. The community is the site of an open-air museum called "Sherbrooke Village" which depicts life in the later 1800s in the wake of the gold rush era. Geography Sherbrooke is nestled between Sherbrooke Lake and St. Mary's River. Executive Council Of Nova Scotia
The Executive Council of Nova Scotia (informally and more commonly, the Cabinet of Nova Scotia) is the cabinet of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. Almost always made up of members of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly, the cabinet is similar in structure and role to the federal Canadian cabinet, though smaller in size with different portfolios. The Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, as representative of the King in Right of Nova Scotia, heads the executive council, and is referred to as the Governor-in-Council. James Cranswick Tory
James Cranswick Tory (October 24, 1862 – June 26, 1944) was a Nova Scotia businessman and politician. He was born in 1862 to Robert Kirk Tory and Anorah Ferguson in Guysborough County and lived in the village of Guysborough. He attended McGill University in Montreal and worked at Sun Life Assurance Company. In 1894, he married Caroline Whitman. Tory served as a Liberal MLA for Guysborough County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1911 to 1925. He was a minister without portfolio in the province's Executive Council from 1921 to 1925. Tory was appointed the 14th Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia and served from 1925 to 1930. He died in Halifax.
