Claremont High School is a Public education, public high school in Claremont, California, United States. Part of the Claremont Unified School District, it is a California Distinguished School, a two-time national Blue Ribbon School of Excellence (1986–1987, 1999–2000), and a nationally recognized International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. The school serves Claremont and a small section of Pomona, California, Pomona, with a sizable amount of inter-district transfer students. History What is now Claremont High School was founded in 1890 as the Claremont Grammar School. Originally situated on the site of present-day Sycamore Elementary School, by 1891 the Grammar School had 61 pupils from Kindergarten to 8th Grade, with most high school–aged students attending Pomona College, Pomona College’s preparatory department. Claremont () is a suburban city in eastern Los Angeles County, California, United States, east of Los Angeles. It lies in the Pomona Valley at the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. As of the 2010 United States Census, 2010 census it had a population of 34,926, and in 2020 the population was 37,266. Claremont is home to the seven Claremont Colleges and several other educational institutions and is known for its tree-lined streets with numerous historic buildings. Craig Colclough
Craig Colclough is an internationally acclaimed American operatic bass-baritone. Initially trained as a cellist, Colclough started acting in musical theater and comedic improv in high school. Colclough attended the Johnston Center at the University of Redlands, in Redlands, California, where he earned an integrative liberal arts degree followed by a Masters of Music through the University of Redlands Conservatory of Music. Colclough began his career at the Los Angeles Opera. Career Colclough completed tenures as both a Florida Grand Opera Young Artist and Filene Young Artist at the Wolf Trap Opera Company in 2013. Kori Carter (born June 3, 1992) is an American track and field athlete specializing in hurdle races, the World Champion in the 400 metres hurdles event in 2017. Kori Carter was a nine-time All-American at Stanford University sponsored by Jordan Brand. Prep While at Claremont High School, in Claremont, California, Carter won the illustrious double hurdles title at the CIF California State Meet her junior and senior years (2009–10) (13.59/41.09 & 13.33/40.44), while winning the 300 hurdles in 2008. She made the final in both races all four years, the first of those as a freshman in 2007. NCAA Kori Carter was a nine-time All-American at Stanford University sponsored by Nike. As a Junior, on June 8, 2013, Carter won the NCAA Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship in the 400 metres hurdles in collegiate record time of 53.21.
