Clapton CFC
Clapton Community Football Club is a supporters fan owned members football club based in Forest Gate, London, England. Their men's team are currently members of the . Their women's team compete in the London and South East Women's Regional Football League Division One North. Both teams play at The Old Spotted Dog in Forest Gate. History Clapton Community was formed on 27 January 2018 by disillusioned supporters of Clapton F.C. after what they deemed as mismanagement of the club by chairman Vince McBean. During the club's debut season, they sold 11,500 away shirts, with 5,500 to Spain, after the kit was based on the International Brigades and the Flag of the Second Spanish Republic. In April 2019, CE Júpiter hosted Clapton in a friendly match which celebrated the Spanish Republican spirit, with Clapton wearing kits inspired by the Second Spanish Republic and International Brigades. The Old Spotted Dog Ground
The Old Spotted Dog Ground in Forest Gate is the oldest senior football ground in London. Clapton Community FC the fan-owned club purchased the ground in June 2020, having been initially awarded the lease. The previous tenants Clapton FC and Hackney Wick FC were ejected from the ground in 2018 due in part to a breach in the lease following non-payment of rent. Clapton Community FC Women's team were able to play their first league games at the Old Spotted Dog from September 2022. Clapton CFC are now the owners of the Old Spotted Dog and projects are under way as of now (April 2023) to refurbish the OSD. On 26 April 2023, Clapton CFC hosted the first competitive match at the Dog since 2019 when they defeated Kensington Dragons 3-0. FA Women's Cup
The Women's FA Challenge Cup is the top annual cup tournament for women's clubs in English football. Founded in 1970, it has been named the WFA Cup, FA Women's Cup, and now Women's FA Cup (currently known as the Adobe Women's FA Cup for sponsorship reasons). Designed as an equivalent to the FA Cup in men's football, the competition began in 1970–71 as the Mitre Challenge Trophy, organised by the Women's Football Association (WFA). There were 71 entrants, including teams from Scotland and Wales. The WFA ran the competition for the first 23 editions, during which time Southampton won the cup eight times. Anti-fascism is a political movement in opposition to fascist ideologies, groups and individuals. Hackney is a district in East London, England, forming around two-thirds of the area of the modern London Borough of Hackney, to which it gives its name. Mabley Green
Mabley Green is a sizeable piece of common land adjacent to Homerton, Clapton Park and Hackney Wick in the east of the London Borough of Hackney measuring 35.5 acres (144,000 m2). Originally it was part of a continuous land mass on both sides of the Lee Navigation that formed the Hackney Marshes. in 1915 a piece of the Marshes was taken to create the National Projectile Factory and after World War I, in 1922, this site was used to create the Mabley Green recreation ground. Located next to the A12 road, it is linked to Hackney Wick and St Mary of Eton via the Red Path walkway and cycle path. It has an all-weather football pitch, an outdoor gym and basketball hoops. Five-a-side Football
Five-a-side football is a version of minifootball, in which each team fields five players (four Outfield#In association football, outfield players and a goalkeeper (association football), goalkeeper). Other differences from association football include a smaller pitch, smaller goals, and a reduced game duration. Matches are played indoors, or outdoors on artificial grass pitches that may be enclosed within a barrier or "cage" to prevent the ball from leaving the playing area and keep the game constantly flowing. Five-a-side football is an informal, small-sided game with flexible rules, often determined before play begins. The penalty area is semi-circular and only the goalkeeper can touch the ball within it. Hackney Marshes
Hackney Marshes is an area of open space in London's Lower Lea Valley, lying on the western bank of the River Lea. It takes its name from its position on the eastern boundary of Hackney, the principal part of the London Borough of Hackney, and from its origin as an area of true marsh. The marshes were extensively drained from Medieval times onwards, and rubble was dumped here from buildings damaged by air raids during World War II, raising the level of the ground. The principal area of the marsh lies below Lea Bridge Road between the Old River Lea, and the Hackney Cut – an artificial channel of the Lee Navigation, dug about 1770, to avoid a loop in the natural watercourse. Stratford School
Stratford School is a secondary academy school in Forest Gate in the London Borough of Newham, England. It has no sixth form. Location It is situated on Upton Lane (A114). Nearby to the west is the Newham College of Further Education, and further west is the site of the 2012 Summer Olympics. Opposite the school is West Ham Park. History Stratford Grammar School, Grosvenor Road, originated in 1906, when West Ham Municipal Central Secondary (mixed) School was opened in Whalebone Lane and Tennyson Road, in buildings for 680, planned by the school board as a higher elementary school.
