Claflin–Richards House
The Claflin–Richards House, also known as the Claflin–Gerrish–Richards House, is a historic First Period house located at 132 Main Street, Wenham, Massachusetts. It is now part of the nonprofit Wenham Museum and may be toured by appointment (regular tour hours are Tuesday–Friday at 11:00am and 2:00pm and Saturday & Sunday at 11:30am, 1:30pm and 2:30pm). The oldest room in the Claflin–Gerrish-Richards House was constructed in 1662, with additions in circa 1672, 1730, and multiple renovations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The ground floor of the house, which includes two rooms interpreted to appear as they may have in the 17th century, is open to the public for self-guided tours and can be accessed any time during regular hours, with the exception of school groups using it for hands-on activities during field trips. Wenham Historic District
The Wenham Historic District is a predominantly rural and residential historic district in Wenham, Massachusetts. It encompasses the full length of Main Street (Massachusetts Route 1A) between the Beverly and Hamilton lines, a stretch of one of the original post roads which is known to have elements of its present alignment as early as 1710. The architecture along the route is predominantly residential, principally excepting the cluster of municipal and religious buildings in the town center. The Wenham Museum is a museum in Wenham, Massachusetts, United States. Claflin Family
The Claflin family are a Scottish American family of 17th century New England origins. The descendants of Robert Maclachlan of Wenham, Massachusetts, a Scottish soldier and prisoner of war from the Battle of Dunbar (1650) assumed to have belonged to the Clan Maclachlan, and his wife Joanna Warner, members of the family have distinguished themselves in various occupations and regions of the United States.
