Civic Commitment ( it, Impegno Civico, IC) was an Italian centrist electoral alliance running in the 2022 general election, composed of Luigi Di Maio's Together for the Future (IpF) and Bruno Tabacci's Democratic Centre (CD). History In June 2022, the minister of foreign affairs Luigi Di Maio, along with several deputies and senators, left the Five Star Movement (M5S) and launched Together for the Future (IpF), a parliamentary group active both in the Senate and the Chamber, which was joined also by two MEPs. Following the resignation of prime minister Mario Draghi and the call for a snap election to be held in September, Di Maio started talks with Bruno Tabacci, a Christian leftist politician and leader of Democratic Centre (CD), around the possibility of forming a joint list for the upcoming election. Luigi Di Maio
Luigi Di Maio (; born 6 July 1986) is an Italian former stadium beverage vendor and politician. He served as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2019 to 2022, as Deputy Prime Minister of Italy and Minister of Economic Development, Labour and Social Policies from 2018 to 2019, and as Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies in the 17th Italian legislature. From September 2017 to January 2020, Di Maio was the leader of the Five Star Movement, an anti-establishment party founded by Beppe Grillo. He resigned from this position to quell discontent and stem the flow of party desertions and expulsions after he led the party into coalition with the centre-left Democratic Party. In June 2022, Di Maio left the M5S due to tensions with Giuseppe Conte because he was not chosen in the party candidates list, founding his own political group, Together for the Future, which joined Civic Commitment (IC) electoral alliance in the run-up of the 2022 Italian general election. Bruno Tabacci
Bruno Tabacci (born 27 August 1946) is an Italian politician and member of the Chamber of Deputies. He is the president of the Democratic Centre. In the past, he was member of Christian Democracy and served as the president of Lombardy from 1987 to 1989. Biography Tabacci was born in Quistello, Lombardy, in 1946. He later graduated in economics at University of Parma and worked as a consultant in economy and finance. During the early 1980s, he entered in the Ministry of Industry together with Giovanni Marcora and, subsequently, served as head of the Technical Secretariat at the Minister of Treasury with Giovanni Goria.
