The Citroën Basalt is a subcompact crossover SUV developed for Emerging market, emerging markets such as India and South America. The design was previewed by the "Basalt Vision" concept car, presented in March 2024. The production model was unveiled on 2 August 2024, with teaser images being published early in July. The Latin New Car Assessment Programme (Latin NCAP) is an Automobile safety rating, automobile safety assessment programme for Latin America and the Caribbean. Founded in 2010, it offers independent information to consumers about the safety levels of new cars in the market. Latin NCAP tests are based in international renowned methodologies, with vehicles awarded a safety rating between 0 and 5 stars, indicating the protection the cars offer to adult and child occupants. The Bharat New Car Assessment Program, also known as the Bharat NCAP, is the official New Car Assessment Program for India. Cars sold in the country will be assigned by star ratings based on their safety performance. It was implemented in phases, according to the plans drawn up by the National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project. It is the 10th NCAP in the world and was set up by the government of India. The program was expected to begin mid-2014, but postponed to start from 2017. It was later scrapped until finally launching in August 2023.
