Citilab
Citilab is a digital lab for citizen innovation in Cornellà de Llobregat, Catalonia, Spain. It mixes citizen based innovation with research, entrepreneurship and training. Its rationale is to offer a resource platform for citizens so that they can start their own projects around technology and the internet, specially the collaborative and audiovisual internet. Origins The original project was backed by the City Hall in Cornella, a town close to Barcelona, Spain. It is located in a former textile factory. After four years of restoration in November 2007 the former factory of Can Suris Cornellà de Llobregat became the headquarters of Citilab. Cornellà De Llobregat
Cornellà de Llobregat (; es, Cornellá de Llobregat) is a municipality in the ''comarca'' of the Baix Llobregat in Catalonia, Spain. It is situated on the left bank of the Llobregat River. It is in the south-western part of the Barcelona metropolitan area and is part of the wider urban area. It houses one of the three La Liga football clubs from Catalonia, RCD Espanyol. History The history of Cornellà de Llobregat is defined by three principal factors: its proximity to the city of Barcelona, its being an area of passage (as was the entire Comarca of Baix Llobregat) to and from the capital of Catalonia, and the presence of the ''Llobregat River''. Its name is of Roman origin (Cornelianus) and the city's architectural characteristics possess Visigoth traits. They focus on co-creation, rapid prototyping & testing and scaling-up innovations & businesses, providing (different types of) joint-value to the involved stakeholders. In this context, living labs operate as intermediaries/orchestrators among citizens, research organisations, companies and government agencies/levels. Background The term "living lab" has emerged in parallel from the ambient intelligence (AmI) research communities context and from the discussion on experience and application research (EAR).
