Circle, Alaska
Circle (also called Circle City; Gwichʼin language, Gwichʼin: ) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area, Alaska, Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area, Alaska, United States. At the 2020 United States census, 2020 census the population was 91, down from 104 in 2010. Circle is northeast of Fairbanks, Alaska, Fairbanks at the end of the Steese Highway along the Yukon River. Circle was named by miners in the late 19th century who believed that the town was on the Arctic Circle, but the Arctic Circle is about north of Circle. Circle used to be an active freight hub for many villages along the Yukon. Every February, Circle City hosts a checkpoint for the long-distance Yukon Quest sled dog race. There is only one general store, Hutchinson Commercial, which also sells alcohol and houses the only fuel pump in town. The price of fuel is generally 35-40% higher than prices in Fairbanks. Circle City is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States, located northwest of Surprise on U.S. Route 60. Circle, Montana
Circle is a town in and the county seat of McCone County, Montana, United States. The population was 591 at the 2020 census. The community was so named because a rancher there branded his cattle with the image of a circle. History After arriving in 1905, the town's founder Peter Rorvik opened the post office and a general store. In 1909 homesteaders began moving to the area. Then in 1914 the Great Northern Railway built a new station. In 1951 oil was discovered southeast of Circle. This led to a temporary population spike. The 1960 census of 1,117 was the highest ever recorded for the town. Pittsboro, North Carolina
Pittsboro is a town in Chatham County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 3,743 at the 2010 census and 4,537 at the 2020 census. It is the county seat of Chatham County. The town was established in the late 18th century, shortly after the American Revolution, as the county seat for the newly formed Chatham County. In the years leading up to the American Civil War, the economy was dominated by small-scale farms that relied heavily on enslaved labor. In the aftermath of the civil war, racial tensions were high, and the town was noted for a number of lynchings and other racial violence in the late 19th century. Circle City Airport is a state-owned public-use airport located in Circle (also known as Circle City), in the Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area of the U.S. state of Alaska. It is also known as Circle City (New) Airport. Scheduled commercial airline service is subsidized by the Essential Air Service program. Circle City Classic
The Circle City Classic is an annual American football game featuring two historically black colleges/universities (HBCUs) and played in Indianapolis, Indiana. The event was established in 1984 by Indiana Black Expo and has been played every year except 2020, when it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. No game was played for the 2022 Circle City Classic. The game was held from 1984 to 2007 in the RCA Dome and was moved to the new Lucas Oil Stadium in 2008. Circle City Conference
The Circle City Conference or CCC is a high school athletic conference located in Indianapolis, Indiana. All of the schools are members of the Indiana High School Athletic Association. The conference started competition at the beginning of the 2016–2017 school year following a crackdown by the IHSAA on several of the state's Catholic schools that were scheduling games against numerous teams located outside the state of Indiana. The first sporting event in the conference was a boy's varsity tennis match between Brebeuf Jesuit and Guerin Catholic that took place on August 18, 2016.
