Cineplex Odeon is a theatre brand owned by Cineplex Entertainment in Canada, after acquiring the Cineplex Odeon Corporation in 1998. As of 2023, there are 61 Cineplex Odeon locations in Canada. The former corporation was one of North America's largest movie theatre operators and live theatre, with theatres in its home country of Canada and the United States. The company was the result of Cineplex Corporation in 1984 purchasing and merging with Canadian Odeon Theatres, which itself was the result of a merger between Canadian Theatres and Odeon Theatres of Canada in 1978. Leonard Brockington
Leonard Walter Brockington (6 April 1888 – 15 September 1966) was a Canadian lawyer, civil servant, public figure, and the first head of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). Born in Cardiff, Wales, one of seven children, Brockington was educated at the University of Wales, graduating with honours in Latin and Greek. He arrived in Canada in 1912. James Earl Lawson, (October 21, 1891 – May 13, 1950) was a Canadian politician and lawyer. Lawson was twice a candidate for the leadership of the Ontario Conservative Party, despite never being a member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, and once as a candidate for the federal Tory leadership. His first run for the provincial leadership was in 1920 but was defeated by George Howard Ferguson.
