Cindy (film)
''Cindy'' is a 1978 American musical television film that features an entirely African-American cast. Directed by William A. Graham, the film is an urbanized retelling of ''Cinderella''. Plot After World War II, Cindy (Woodard) has moved from the south to live in Harlem with her newly blended family. She finds herself constantly abused by her stepmother and stepsisters. Her father (Mitchell) provides some comfort but cannot prevent the abuse entirely. One night, she meets Captain Joe Prince (Davis) and is swept off her feet. Soon after, a romance ensues. William Graham (director)
William A. Graham (May 15, 1926 – September 12, 2013) was an American television and film director. Career Beginning in 1958, Graham worked as a prolific television director; he helmed episodes for dozens of series including ''Kraft Television Theatre'', ''Omnibus'', ''Checkmate'', '' Naked City'', '' Breaking Point'', '' 12 O'Clock High'', ''The F.B.I.'', '' The Fugitive'', ''Batman'', ''CBS Playhouse'', and ''The X-Files''. In 1980, he was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for directing the television film '' Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones''.
