Cimarron Alliance Foundation
The Cimarron Alliance Foundation was a 501(c)(3) educational organization dedicated to advocacy for Oklahoma’s LGBT citizens. Its mission was “to support educational efforts that increase personal self-esteem, promote public enlightenment and advance equality for LGBT Oklahomans". In September 2002, the group won a lawsuit against Oklahoma City after the city took down banners advocating gay and lesbian rights. Judge Robin J. A charitable organization or charity is an organization whose primary objectives are philanthropy and social well-being (e.g. educational, religious or other activities serving the public interest or common good). Popular education is a concept grounded in notions of class, political struggle, and social transformation. The term is a translation from the Spanish educación popular or the Portuguese educação popular and rather than the English usage as when describing a 'popular television programme', popular here means 'of the people'. Freedom Oklahoma
Freedom Oklahoma is a statewide political advocacy organization in Oklahoma that advocates for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) rights, including same-sex marriage. History Freedom Oklahoma was formed in 2015 with the merger of Cimarron Alliance Equality Center and The Equality Network. Cimarron Alliance's executive director at the time of the merger, Troy Stevenson, became the executive director of the new organization. Activities Freedom Oklahoma is organizing efforts to defeat legislations considered harmful to the state's LGBT community, and promote positive LGBT legislation.
