Cimarron is an unincorporated community in Harris County, Texas, United States. It lies 40 km west of the heart of Houston, and 6 km SE of Katy, at an elevation of . History Construction of the subdivision began in 1975, when the Homeowner association was incorporated, and the first house was constructed. The final house in the platted area was completed shortly after 1990. Katy is a city in the U.S. state of Texas within the Greater Katy area, itself forming the western part of the Greater Houston metropolitan area. The 1980s oil glut was a serious surplus of crude oil caused by falling demand following the 1970s energy crisis.
