Ciaran Mullooly
Ciaran Mullooly (born 4 September 1966) is an Irish Independent Ireland politician who has served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the Midlands–North-West (European Parliament constituency), Midlands–North-West constituency since July 2024. A former journalist, he worked for RTÉ from 1993 to 2021, where he was the RTÉ News Midland Region, Ireland, Midlands correspondent for 26 years. Media career Mullooly started his career with the ''Longford Leader'' in 1985, before moving to the ''Cavan Leader'' newspaper aged 20. He joined RTÉ in 1993, where he worked on ''Ear to the Ground'', and was the RTÉ News Midlands correspondent from 1995 until 2021. After retiring from RTÉ in June 2021, he worked as a tourism activator for Longford County Council. Mullooly is a published author and has written three books. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) or small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) are businesses whose personnel and revenue numbers fall below certain limits. The abbreviation "SME" is used by international organizations such as the World Bank, the European Union, the United Nations, and the World Trade Organization (WTO). In any given national economy, SMEs sometimes outnumber large companies by a wide margin and also employ many more people. Sunday World
The ''Sunday World'' is an Irish newspaper published by Independent News & Media. It is the second largest selling "popular" newspaper in the Republic of Ireland, and is also sold in Northern Ireland where a modified edition with more stories relevant to that region is produced. It was first published on 25 March 1973. Until 25 December 1988 all editions were printed in Dublin but since 1 January 1989 a Northern Ireland edition has been published and an English edition has been printed in London since March 1992. Origins The ''Sunday World'' was Ireland's first tabloid newspaper. Hugh McLaughlin and Gerry McGuinness launched it on 25 March 1973. Lanesborough–Ballyleague
Lanesborough–Ballyleague (), more commonly known simply as Lanesborough, is a town in the midlands of Ireland. Lanesborough is on the County Longford (east) side and Ballyleague on the County Roscommon (west) side of the River Shannon. They are located at the northern tip of Lough Ree on the N63 national secondary road at its junction with the R371 (at Ballyleague) and R392 (at Lanesborough). The town of Longford is 16 km north-east on the N63, the town of Roscommon is 15 km south-west on the N63, the town of Ballymahon is 20 km south-east on the R392 and the town of Strokestown is 15 km north-west on the R371.
