Châu Phú District
Châu Phú is a rural district (''huyện'') of An Giang province in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam. As of 2019, the district had a population of 206,676. The district covers an area of 426 km2. The district capital lies at Cái Dầu. There are some festivals here, such as the "Bình Thủy temple worshiping" and the "Sir Tây An worshiping" Châu Phú is located 20 km north of Long Xuyên and 20 km south of Châu Đốc, the main towns in the province. The district comprises 12 communes and one ''thị trấn'': Khánh Hòa, Mỹ Đức, Mỹ Phú, Ô Long Vĩ, Vĩnh Thạnh Trung, Thạnh Mỹ Tây, Bình Long, Đào Hữu Cảnh, Bình Phú, Bình Chánh, Bình Mỹ and thị trấn Cái Dầu. Long Xuyên
Long Xuyên (), formally named Thủ Đông Xuyên, is the capital city of An Giang province, in the Mekong Delta region of south-western Vietnam. History In 1789, a group of explorers established a small outpost in the Tam Khe canal, naming it Dong Xuyen. Soon after, a marketplace was created and named Long Xuyên, but by the 1860s the area became better known for the Long Xuyen market than by the official outpost's name. From 1877, the reach of Long Xuyên grew as the city's administration became responsible for an increasing number of neighborhoods and wards. Châu Đốc
Châu Đốc is a city in An Giang Province, bordering Cambodia, in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam. As of 2019, the city had a population of 101,765, and cover an area of . The city is located by the Hậu River (a branch of the Mekong River flowing through Vietnamese territory) and Vĩnh Tế Canal. Châu Đốc is situated west of Ho Chi Minh City. It takes about 5 hours to travel by bus from Ho Chi Minh City. History The territory became Vietnam's around the 17th century. The town is near the picturesque Sam Mountain where the Sam Mountain Lady (Vietnamese: Bà Chúa Xứ Núi Sam) is worshipped. Hòa Hảo is a Vietnamese new religious movement. It is described either as a Syncretism, syncretistic Vietnamese folk religion, folk religion or as a sect of Buddhism. It was founded in French Cochinchina, Cochinchina in 1939 by Huỳnh Phú Sổ (1920–47), who is regarded as a saint by its devotees. It is one of the major religions of Vietnam with between one million and eight million adherents, mostly in the Mekong Delta.
